Shawn-O Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 The town where I was born, Park River. Plus they have a great little golf course. The coliseum dances in the mid-80's were great parties! Quote
GeauxSioux Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 The coliseum dances in the mid-80's were great parties! I hit a few of those dances. Who was it that sang the "Lightning Bar" song? Whoever it was seemed like they came to the coliseum every year or am I just getting old and the memory is gone? Quote

sprig Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Even though I hated small town USA when I was growing up, I have come to appreciate the memories of Belfield and growing up on a ranch twenty miles north of there. Whether it was 6:00 pm or 10:30 pm, stopping in at Grandma's house where the first words out of her mouth were "I was just getting dinner started...are you hungry?"... And after 4 or 5 helpings when you shoved away from the table, she'd ask, "What's wrong, didn't you like it?" Quote
mujack Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Burlington or Park River, grew up in Burlington but spent alot of summers in PR. Quote

He had several gigs around the area this past summer, including the fair in Grand Forks. Quote
Sioux-per Villain Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Devils Lake. Where else in the state can you limit out on walleyes every time you fish! Quote
HockeyMom Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 The coliseum dances in the mid-80's were great parties! The street dance the first weekend in August....... Quote
Siouxmama Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Devils Lake is a great place. Maybe not many things to do, but, with all of the fish in Devils Lake and the birds around in the fall along with the deer population, it's a fisherman's and hunters paradise. Doesn't hurt that the folks are still there, so I have someone there to see when I "go home". Quote
HockeyMom Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Langdon was a fun place to grow-up but I would never want to live there. I like being in the middle of nowhere, but still being only an hour from Fargo and an hour from Forks. Quote
BIGSIOUX Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Towner. The cattle capitol. The thousands of stories i could tell, some legal, most not. THe fourth of July, 3rd of july streetdance that shuts down MAIN street. THe vegabond, the highschoool party spot that all the cops came to and we didnt care. the sporting events, everyone knowing my name since my parents owned the only grocery store. Never taking the keys out of my car till my first day at college, ahh those were the days. THe people were amazing, the friends the best. Quote
BigGame Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Honestly, I really don't enjoy any towns in North Dakota other than Fargo and Grand Forks. It's funny, I went to college in Grand Forks but I hated the town itself. I would pick pretty much anywhere over Grand Forks for the best town in ND. Quote

You know Granville has much better street dances, especially if you are a minor. Quote
BIGSIOUX Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 You know Granville has much better street dances, especially if you are a minor. those turned into a brawl every time, too many basers. as a minor, it wasnt to difficult to find fun at either place, speaking from experience of course. Quote

I would pick pretty much anywhere over Grand Forks for the best town in ND. I hated Grand Forks and lived there for 11 years. Hated every thing about it, except my 4 years at the U. I would argue that it is more ridiculous than Fargo when it comes to snooty attitudes. This thread makes me happy to be "coming home" tomorrow, even though i'm not coming home for happy reasons. shep Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I've always felt that Bismarck is a nice town; it just needs more of a college atmosphere to it (a bigger Bismarck State College would help). Grafton is also a nice place; much smaller than what I am used to, but nice nonetheless. I'm with you about Grafton, but I'm biased. I've lived here my entire life. Quote

Many great memories of his shows at Red Willow Resort in Binford, ND, growing up in the 80's. Quote
