  1. Me, Hubby, Dad and the baby will be in our black jerseys. Mom has some sweatshirt of some kind, cant remember the color but we'll all be loud and proud!!!
  2. Yep we sure did! He's got his very own Sioux jersey from my parents too! I think we're in section 211.
  3. I will be going along with my husband, my 11 month old (his first Sioux game) and my parents. Flying in from Ontario!! Go Sioux!
  4. Counseling addicts daily, this doesnt surprise me at all. To answer a few points made by some of you... Prison vs. treatment....yes jail works but so does treatment if they are ready and there is support Jail works to give people structure that need it but it doesnt necessarily solve the problem of addiction. If someone is suddenly better because of a jail sentence, its because they worked really hard to make changes and they have a degree of resilience as well as support from family and friends to be successful. Not everybody makes those choices or has those resources. But there are a lot of drugs in jails and prisons too. If Dubay is violating the system by failing to comply with his conditions, then the judge should put him away. He'll still need drug treatment during and after release if he has any chance of not having issues with the system or with drugs in the future. Rock bottom....I went to a training that was done by a famous medical doctor from Vancouver's East Side (Canada's drug capital) and he put rock bottom as (paraphrase)...a homeless, hungry, jobless, abused, neglected, socially isolated, physically and mentally ill addict plagued with legal problems doesnt have a bottom...with all that other sh**, what is their bottom supposed to be, other than death? For most addicts, death really is the only way out. I'm glad he's back in the workhouse for violating his conditions. If he keeps it up, send him to jail so he doesnt hurt or kill someone else. I hope he can complete and be successful at a treatment program. Its really too bad for him and his friends and family.
  5. YEAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! 1-0 PP goal!! Good start boys!!!
  6. Watching the web feed from North Bay Ontario!!! GO SIOUX!!! :D
  7. Prayers to his family. The Sioux community has lost a great fan but I'm sure he's up there now waiting for the season to start.
  8. Good luck to him Sioux-CIA I've been watching and praying all week...and people here in Ontario are paying attention too. Been thinking way too much about 1997, like so many others as well. My co-workers, friends and family are all watching and praying for my family, friends and former co-workers back home in North Dakota. Never have I been more proud to be from North Dakota than this week when I have watched all the volunteers and stubborn Germans and Norwegians, just damn good and proud Midwestern people like me, stick together through this again. God speed.
  9. I was in my 2nd year at UND and I heard some snippets of it on the radio as I got ready to leave for school. I only had one class that morning, French at Merrifield. As I parked my car, the radio was saying that the Pentagon was hit and that was when I got cold all over. I just thought if they can hit the Pentagon, the center of our defense, its way more serious and scary. I dont remember much from the French class. I had to go to work at a bank right after and I changed at my then boyfriends house. I was watching the news coverage with his mom and just really didnt want to go to work after seeing the tower fall. I remember getting to work and the first thing I did was walk behind the teller line to hug my mom. I remember driving around that night and seeing the gas lines at every gas station in GF. I remember my dad putting our our American flag and it was out until the first snowfall. The next day I went to Christus Rex and prayed. I'm not really the praying sort and the Rex wasnt my church, but I went anyway. And I cried a quite a bit. Then I went to the Presbyterian church that evening to pray again and cry again. I watched some of the coverage again today on CNN and some of the scant coverage on Canadian news and saw some pics online and my eyes got watery again. I'm pretty sure that no matter where I am or how old I get, September 11 will always wrench out that emotion and vulnerability I felt that day.
  10. LOL! I'm a woman and I enjoy it! I'd kill for legs like that I'm totally sexist I guess! I'm undecided and waiting for my absentee ballot. I've been following it as much as I can though, ever since November. My husband is sick of it already and doesnt understand why the process takes forever. Especially since the Canadian PM just announced an election for October 14th, haha! Its hard to wade through the BS and the only American news channel I get is CNN or WGN.
  11. OMG!! CNN just posted that LeRoi Moore passed away tonight!! How unbelieveabely sad! What a talent he was, I'm so happy I got to see him play at the Toronto show this year. My God, I'm in such shock right now and tearing up...crazy! The bands site has a tribute up www.dmband.com
  12. Bob, My husband and I are praying for you and your family. Many many healing vibes and courage for your son and your family "Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
  13. So the June 18th show in Toronto was great!!! The setlists at the concerts I went to at Alpine were slightly better but he still played a lot of great stuff. Grey Street was phenomenal, had chills. And the finale, Too Much, was the best. The Idea of You was a good one too. His encore was a bit disappointing though but overall it was a great concert. We had rain all day in Ontario, from the North all the way to the city and it was even pouring rain as we were trying to get to the venue. But when we got to Molson, it was a perfectly beautiful night on Lake Ontario. My husband who is not a big DMB fan even enjoyed himself, what a great birthday gift
  14. Sorry I meant we are center stage in the middle....my writing didnt come across well.
  15. Its my birthday today and my husband surprised me with Dave tickets for the June 18 Toronto show!!!! I'm so excited!!! Its an outdoor venue like Alpine but for the first time I"ll have seats and not lawn tickets. Even though we're in one of the back sections, we'll be right center stage. He doesnt really like Dave but he's willing to go for me!!!!
  16. I almost didnt say anything... Sweet Jo, I just love wine...boxed or not...living in Canada with a bunch of French Canucks has turned me into a wine freak
  17. LOL and the other 5000 are trying to fight off a contact high Man I wish I was going to Alpine this year...missed last year and now that Im in Canada I think my Alpine days are over...shoulda went last year.
  18. The White Out should be planned way in advance for a weekend and be marketed constantly for the weeks leading up to it. It cant be a last minute thing and it should be planned for a specific team every year...like say the Bulldogs...every year people would just know that when we play UMD, everybody wears white.
  19. God ok...we get it...get over yourself! If I collected hockey jerseys I would want one for my collection but I also understand why some Sioux fans get irritated with the HC talk and others enjoy it and have different reasons for wanting a HC jersey. I dont really understand why its such an issue of contension between people on here...neither side will convince the other their argument, so why keep going over it? And Sioux-Cia will you share your boxed wine with me?!
  20. The Rangers/Pens game is really boring so far...
  21. I ask the same of the Americans who boo O Canada....
  22. Because apparently when it is sung they win games...so it has brought them success in the past. According to Wiki. I think its stupid...and that singer on the ice butchers O Canada too.
  23. I completely agree....I attended games in Chicago and I thought it was the most bizarre thing ever when the crowd cheered and clapped during the Anthem. I think its stupid and disrespectful. I do like the idea of the whole arena singing though...that is one of the coolest things about Canada...they'll sing the Anthem at the start of any game. And I dont like the idea of playing O Canada at our home games unless we're playing a CanadiEn team. That just doesnt make sense to me. I have also learned that standing the whole time is completely unecessary for good atmosphere. I used to think let the students stand if they want. I've been to tons of Canadian games in the last 6 months from all levels of skill and nobody stands the whole time. We stand at the beginning, after scoring, during a fight, maybe during an intense moment but for the most part, the atmosphere is ROCKIN without everybody standing. If anybody has been paying attention to the Montreal or Calgary playoff games recently, those fans dont stand the whole time and its crazy in there! I wish the Ralph would allow noisemakers for the fans....every game I've been to has a cowbell from a few different fans, or a huge long horn, or whatever but not limited to those stupid thundersticks. Makes it really fun and gets the crowd into it.
