southpaw
Here's a link: http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/news_story.asp?id=147178 Congrats to Jonathon, now come back and light up Bemidji. Kris Chucko did not make the team.
mikejm
Wow! Nice honor for Jon; but look at the names on the cut list! Chucko, Espo... Toews must've played well to make the team when other obviously-talented players were sent home. Way to go young man.
Canuck
Yeah, but "only" four NCAA players (of the five invited) made the cut. Cue the anti-NCAA thread Edited December 16, 2005 by Canuck

Sioux_Hab-it
I thought that he would then miss the Bemidji Series? He will now stay with the team and prepare for the upcoming exhibition game against the Czechs. Sutter needs to set up the lines now that he has picked the players. It will be great to watch Toews on the TSN broadcasts of the series.

Bob McKenzie said Toews and Cogliano were arguably the two best forwards at the camp this week. I think I'll take his word.

Sioux_Hab-it
Here is the official roster link. TSN lists Boston College as being in the HC vice the NCAA. Anyone know what that might be about. Handi-Capped perhaps? http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature.asp?fid=1028 Edited December 16, 2005 by Sioux_Hab-it

Goon
Bob McKenzie said Toews and Cogliano were arguably the two best forwards at the camp this week. I think I'll take his word. Now if we can get that to translate to the ice in the second half of the season at UND. Don't get me wrong he has been good but I think he can be great. DAR
Now if we can get that to translate to the ice in the second half of the season at UND. Don't get me wrong he has been good but I think he can be great. The only thing that is keeping him from being great is his age and lack of experience. I think you will see a big difference in him physically next year and if by chance we are fortunate to keep him for a junior season he would at that point be a dominant hobey type player. Sioux_Hab-it
Now TSN has released the TV schedule. Bonus as they will also show two USA round Robin Games. http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature.asp?fid=4124 Edited December 16, 2005 by Sioux_Hab-it
The Sicatoka
Not only is he the only '88 on that squad, he's the youngest guy by 10 months!
DIEHARD SIOUX FAN
According to my direct tv book 4 USA games will be on FSN in Dec. 26th, 28th, 30th, and 31th. We don't get TSN in the USA, do we? I only get them thru NHL Center Ice.
Sioux-cia
I'm so proud, if I had a button down shirt, my buttons would be a popping. Good job Jonathon! Make us proud (more proud).

For those that don't have center ice it should still leave the Sports Bar option available.
yzerman19
What a tremendous honor. I am glad that he didn't get screwed by not playing in the the WHL. There was some talk that Hockey Canada was going to blacklist Toews from wearing the maple leaf because he elected to go the NCAA route instead of playing major junior. He is the only #1 overall in the Bantam Draft to not play in the W. He and Kessel are going to be watched very closely. Who are some of the other 2006 draft elligible players to watch? yzerman19
It is a huge honor to even be invited to that camp. Imagine being considered 1 of the top 30 hockey players in Canada under 20. That being said, I bet he had a few Kokanees out in BC

Who are some of the other 2006 draft elligible players to watch? what color is the sky in your world. guess you havent figured it out that canada hockey picks the best players in the world no matter where they play. your so called blacklist is laughable. ha ha. not sure if you know this but the head of hockey canada bob nicholson played ncaa hockey, so are you telling me he would blacklist the league that helped him get an education and furthered his hockey career. did you not learn how big hockey is in canada from the junior tournment being here. if canada did not ice the best team possible no matter what tournment it was there would be public outrage. Rick
Chucko got screwed!! Even though this is disappointing for Chucko, there is a silver lining.....now he can get back to Dinkeytown, get his wig out, and party at Blarney's over the holiday season with his fellow (and future) teammates.
