Will soon again overtake NDSU will their endowment. UND has donors - need someone who can sell the athletic vision like they have on the academic side. I definitely don't want to end up like Rutgers (great academics, bad athletics). I believe that we can have both. Quote

A lot of NFL players don't know how to manage their money. 1 Quote

But I do agree that NDSU needed to move up Nothing left to prove in FCS for them l. Now they will compete at the highest level of college football, albeit in a weaker MWC considered a lesser conference even before the exit of the better programs to the PAC 12 On paper they have an opportunity to play for a real D1 championship, not a sub level one Yup Like the line in Dumb and Dumber - So you are saying there’s a chance! Still, I commend them for taking a shot. They may win the MWC in their first year. UND is a hockey school with 8 real D1 championships. Not sub level. Not as impressive as a real D1 football championship, but damn great in the world where they exist They chose to stay in their lane I wish the Bison well in their quest Who knows? They might surprise us all. But, they are giving it a shot. 3 Quote

One could say that the only way su goes on their ten year run is because many of the teams that challenged them left years ago. 2 Quote

But they would have won at least some of them. FCS is a lower level but not a joke. A joke is remaining at a level of football when it is obvious you should move up. The Dakota schools staying in the D2 North Central Conference as long as they did was a joke. They should have been NCAA 1-AA long before. UND, USD and even SDSU (for now) belong in FCS. NDSU has finally and rightfully moved on. Quote

Everyone acts like the NDSU of the 2020s was the same NDSU of the 2010s. This decade, they went to 3 championship games and won 2, the same results as the other xDSU, with almost the same overall record. 2 other teams have won championships this decade. Still at the top? Sure, but not for ordained like 10 years ago when they were spending head and shoulders above other FCS schools. But SDSU caught up (and passed in spending). JSD and UND were pulling even and the Montanas are pouring resources into their programs. And for all the talk of the JMUs and Georgia Southerns leaving, the aforementioned schools filled the void along with Tarletons, UTRGV, etc. 1 Quote

I for one hope they fail spectacularly. Their fans (especially the fair weather ones) deserve no less. What the bloody hell has happened to our fan base? When I was growing up in Grand Forks and attending UND, supporting NDSU and wishing them well simply did not happen. Now we have our own fans rooting for them. It is truly nauseating. 3 Quote

Bison06 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago FCS is not a joke. Though it has become significantly weakened over the years. I agree that if App St., GA Southern, JMU, Marshall, SHSU and a few other traditional powerhouses stay FCS, NDSU likely doesn't win as many championships in the FCS. However, if those teams had stayed, I also believe NDSU would have stayed FCS for much longer. Love NDSU or hate NDSU, they have messaged that football is priority in Fargo and they want to continue to rise in the ranks of the game. Nobody is expecting anyone from UND to hope for good things for NDSU as they make this move, but I do find the diminishing of this decision and some arguing that it isn't a level up to be odd. James Madison is proof that schools can make a transition up and be competitive, making the playoff within a few years of moving up. So talk your trash, have your fun, but don't talk out of both sides of your mouth. Either FCS is "JV" and FBS is a level up, or the top of FCS is very similar to G6 conferences and top FCS teams who want to make football a priority should move and a play "real schools" for "real D1 championships" how ever infinitely unlikely it may be for a G6 team to win it all. Can't have it both ways on that conversation. Quote
Bison06 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago For what its worth, I hope that the Montana and Dakota schools make the move also eventually. UND, USD, SDSU, Montana and Montana St all play really good football and would all compete well with the vast majority of G6 and lower P4 teams. 1 Quote

Say what you want about the AG school but their social media presence has exploded since Saturday's game. According to said social media, they had 10 guys make NFL rosters. Probably get a few more practice squad guys as well. None of us have to like it but ya gotta respect it. Quote
Bison06 Posted just now Posted just now 40 minutes ago, SIOUXFAN97 said: G6 is fcs fcs is g6 that game on saturday in fargo was a train wreck I don’t agree. The top of FCS is mostly the same as most G6 teams but the top of FCS is my mind is about 4-5 teams these days. Also, I’m sure I’ll regret asking, but what about the game in Fargo was a “train wreck”. First game mistakes were there with some uncharacteristic penalties, but I’ve watched a lot of NDSU football in my day, and that looked on par with most of it. The crowd hasn’t been that rowdy in a decade and JSU didn’t handle it well. Quote
