Interesting change for a program that has had just five first round draft picks play for them in their entire history?

They can probably beat the Avs!

DuPont to Michigan per Schloss

What a roller coaster for Gopher fans. It seems like it was always Michigan once the other top defensemen made their commitments.

Mich, MSU, DU, UMD, UND…teams are loaded this year. I’d guess the F4 will have a few of those teams.

1. Michigan

2. North Dakota

3. Denver

4. Minnesota Duluth

5. Michigan State

Minnesota Duluth and Michigan State need to prove that their new goaltenders will be more than adequate.

Unless he signs with SJ, Ravensburgen (sp) should be a star in net at MSU. Duluth has a big question mark though. Is their depth less of a concern this year?

Ravensbergen should be great, we just cannot guarantee it will be right away or even consistent

I think we can assume Duluth will be just fine. They always land on their feet with goaltending the last 15 years. Plus their forward/defense will be so good this year that it'll help Reyelts get things rolling. Their top 6 is going to be brutal to play against.

Gopher fans must really be salty today. They were already salty at us the other day, now they must really be annoyed with Michigan.

I'm waiting for when they realize that Larson isn't the second coming of Herb Brooks and they hire Oliver in a few years 😁

I will add that we will need our young defense to play well early, as playing MSU and at Minnesota will be a huge part of our non conference schedule.  Playing Minnesota right after they play Duluth could make them desperate to not have a repeat of last year, or give them a ton of confidence early on.

The concern with MSU is how impactful guys like Nilson, Lindstrom, and Mason West will be this year.

They needed alot more from both Nilson and Lindstrom this past year and (will say didn't watch him in Fargo) Mason West just based on stats for the Force I'm a little skeptical on how impactful he'll be his freshman year. Those 3 as far as forwards are concerned will be X factors for them. You can maybe get away with 2/3 being impactful but probably not 1/3 when it gets down to crunch time in the tourney

Nah.  Nobody realistically thought DuPont would be in Dinkytown, or very few at least.  Larson revamped the D-Core....although it's not UND, UM or DU...it's a hell of a lot better than last season.  His problems appear to be down the middle up front.

I was more referring to them accusing UND of buying championships and here every other blue blood breaks out the checkbooks. Although I would be curious how much David Carle has to spend given the success he’s had. Seems like they just load up on quality guys up and down their lineup and don’t seem to garner much media fanfare.

DuPont signing is certainly huge for Michigan.
Have to think he stays for two years even if he goes #1 next summer, such a young dman and he's not overly big.
Having him and Perron, both excellent puck handlers/carriers, on the PP this season is going to be absolutely lethal.
They'll be fun to watch, but I'm hoping someone takes them out before they make it to the F4.  ;)

Heck, I wouldn't mind if Spoons "pulls a Hunwick" on them in the NCAA's.  :)

With McKenna going to PSU last year, was expecting that would smash open the door for them as far as getting other big-name recruits in the future. So far this year, notta. They weren't contenders for Carels, Rudolph, Lin or DuPont; & they haven't had any other big additions, as in studs, this off-season that I'm aware of. Thought there would be a tidal wave of big names going there, especially with their deep pockets, but not even a ripple. At least to date.

Until I hear otherwise the cat is out of the bag on their system being a hindrance on recruiting to players / advisors
