UND-FB-FAN Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago 5 hours ago, SIOUXFAN97 said: ike and Olson were untouchable per chavez..... This is controversial and folks will argue about this but my gut feeling is you’re correct. It was based on them just being hired less than a year earlier and Chaves didn’t want them one and done. It was a “UND nice” gesture that really was inappropriate for Chaves to do considering Coach Schmidt’s FBS connections; it also would disrespect the autonomy usually handed out to a deserving head coach hire. Bubba’s residual salary also a factor perhaps as well (and/or part of the deal that Bubba cut with his “reassignment”). Anyways, it’s controversial for sure and won’t be fully disclosed (ever), but there’s something to this given the entire “behind the scene” circumstances that played out a year ago in November/December 2024 that still hasn’t completely come out. Ultimately, it’s time to stop the political correctness and back off, Chaves, and let the man do his job. Fund this thing appropriately also. We got the funds just need to liberate them. Quote
UND-FB-FAN Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago 5 hours ago, gfhockey said: Do we get friend back or landry Either would be a reasonable improvement, but there’s likely a wild card candidate in there you haven’t mentioned based on Schmidt’s connections from past stops (San Diego State, Washington, Fresno State). Kalen DeBoer runs a juggernaut of an offense so someone from that background has to be (or should be) the favorite. It’s just hard to outbid a lot of those programs - especially Bama - unless Chaves and Armacost have a “Eureka moment” and open up the damn checkbook. Again, this is just speculation and may have no basis, but at this time of year, much is. Also, this isn’t college football like it was 25 years ago; hell, it isn’t like it was 5 years ago. A lot of cycling with coaches and players. UND opted into revenue sharing. They want to be contemporary and compete (or at least I hope so). They need to play “the game”. 1 Quote
Oxbow6 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago In a game in which you knew UND would struggle offensively with Jerry's recent play over a few weeks...Ziebarth only gets 5 carries, and DD doesn't even get 5 snaps. 4 Quote
Longtime fan Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Curiosity got the best of me. Had to look up TE usage this year first 8 games TEs had 27 catches including 5 tds last 6 games they had four total catches. Zero tds. Was the OC purposely trying to tank the season ? inexcusable! 2 Quote

Team regressed in 2024 as well. There’s really only one common denominator between 2024 and 2025 from a coaching perspective. This season, the defense obviously improved as the year went on. Excellent defensive coaching. Can’t be said about the offense however. Quote

Longtime fan Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 1 hour ago, Devils said: Yeah, I'm sure they never discussed the offensive struggles... Do you really think it was addressed?? If it was talked about …can you tell me what they did to counter what wasn’t working….which was everything I noticed they quit using their TEs. Noticed they quit spreading the ball around. Noticed the opponents DC caught on to the couple plays Isaac was happy calling. Noticed Deng wasn’t involved. Noticed Z or Langama weren’t given chances. Noticed Jerry couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. Noticed they couldn’t burn the game clock when they had a lead. The football IQ on that side of the ball is not up to par. There are plenty more but those were the most glaring. Those all =fail. Every game they stuck with fail over and over again. No change. Nothing. So if they discussed it ….they had a funny way of addressing it and changing to counter the incompetence. 2 Quote

Und Princess Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Jerry could've been playing with an injury. So that probably contributed to the struggles. I just hope he stays along with Deng! Quote

Let’s give him a fair shake like we gave the hometown kid 1 Quote

I just hope he stays along with Deng! I brought that up in couple posts. My guess he was injured in the SD game? He took some shots. Again tho. If that was the case ….nothing changed. Sit him for a couple weeks or however long to healthy him up and go with Simon or jack. But nothing was done. In fact. We are were wondering if Jerry would be back for the Tarleton game. Obviously it came down to the last day that he cleared protocol. That would have been a perfect time to start Simon or jack …even if it’s for the 1st qtr to see if that change would have made anything better . But we got the same ol Jerry and same ol offense. That’s my biggest gripe here it that there was no attempt at all at trying to fix anything. Just ride it out. 1 2 Quote
