Be careful not to pump Jerry’s tires beyond their recommended psi

Anyone who thought Eric Schmidt's first season would go smoothly without any bumps in the road was delusional.

He is working with mainly Bubba's leftovers and the team is already much improved.

Once he gets a couple of recruiting classes on the field, I think we'll be Top 10 nationally, if not higher.

Agreed good take

You haven’t been able to accept a couple of things. According to coaches, Jerry wasn’t ready last year. My opinion, I thought Feeney had earned the spot, you haven’t an unhealthy man crush on a young athlete and thought he earned the spot. Neither of our opinions mattered.
Some of us have been part of football long enough to understand coaches make their decisions based on the personnel they feel give them the best chance to win.  They are better positioned than fans who aren’t at every practice, film session, and team and position meetings to make those decisions.
I guess it’s ok for you to derail a post on previous game, so I will participate. From what I heard from those close to the program, not the HC, what we saw against SDak last weekend was what they were seeing in Jerry last year. Although he should have had a lot more PT last year, he was allowed to improve and develop his talents including ability to read defenses and his leadership skills to the level that he has been able to not only unseat last year’s starting QB, he had bee playing at a high level until SDak.
It does nothing for the program to continue to post the same derogatory remarks regarding one of our players. If you want to continue to compare their performances you may be surprised if you review all the game film from last year and this year and count up missed passes to open receivers or bounce passes to open receivers. Their completion rates aren’t much different.
What is different is that Jerry is the starter has played well and should have our support. There is something wrong with a guy who obviously wasn’t good enough to play, criticizing a guy who was good enough to start at an FCS program and continues to contribute to the success of this team as a backup.

in what world where a sophomore making his 9th start who is responsible for almost 30 td's and only 2 to's is was the problem this season or the sodak game.

we would more than likely hae 2 more wins if eric would've brought in bemidji states ST coach....

Other than your dreams where did you think I said or even insinuated Saturdays loss was Jerry’s fault?  He didn’t play well but neither did a lot of other players. I had stated it wasn’t Jerry’s fault. I don’t recall anyone stating Jerry has been a problem this season. Prior to Saturday he has done a very good job and I’m not aware of anyone who thinks otherwise.

You can switch coaches but if players don’t execute it’s on the players. No coach game plans to allow a free, unblocked path to the punter. If the KO team who until Saturday (and with the same coach) had been playing well, fail to execute and miss tackles the coach didn’t suddenly forget to coach.

I said staff close to the program said he wasn’t ready. I thought the starter would be Feeney and if not, Kaminski. We were wrong. Everyone agrees it was a mistake not to get Jerry playing time.
Simon didn’t complete it. Jerry has also overthrown guys open for TD’s (it happens) but he more than likely would have completed it. I think Feeney more than likely would have completed it. Frankly, I think Simon would usually complete it.
You are somehow wired wrong to even want to keep posting a players mistake against a good FBS team in his first game as a starter. It shows a lack of class and if you are proud of doing that one of our players it speaks negatively as to who you are. Simon continues to make positive contributions, from his position as a backup, to this team and specifically to Jerry and the other QB’s. That won’t be obvious from your bike.
