I remember having a t-shirt that said “Kermit’s the Way to the NCAA’s”. I’m guessing it’s connected to the Farce. Wasn’t another saying, “Kermit’s luck will guide our puck!”??? 3 2 Quote

Get a sponsor and call it the Scheels Red River Classic or something like that. I don't like this idea. It needs to be played when the students are around. The Ralph and Mariucci aren't the same with the students gone. 1 Quote

Godsmack Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I remember when some years, Denver would schedule UND during breaks. I think they did that so they could sell the student section tickets. I prefer going to those games when the students can attend. They make the atmosphere that much better at Magness. 1 Quote

Every time I've been its 60% UND fans. Quote

Would love it more if/when UND could sweep there! 1 Quote

I was 5 at the time and I remember having a Kermit the Frog that I would sometimes bring to games. Even have a picture in the Dakota Student holding Kermit. Remember "Kermit's luck guides our puck" and it would ride around on the Zamboni. Was it stolen or rewarded to Series winner? Long story short.... In the 78-79 season, we let Kermit the Frog (mascot in a little Farce helmet and ref jersey), sit on top of the glass during warmups. When Michigan visited, they stole Kermit. Whisked him off to the locker room after warmups. Much negotiating between us and the Michigan locker room ensued: They offered to return him in return for a sweep. We replied "give us back the Frog and we'll only beat you by 9 goals". And so on. During pre-game, and during the game, Kermit was tied up and hanging from the backup goalie's stick. Then they took him back to Ann Arbor. In the following days, media picked up the story. Virg Foss interviewed the Grand Exalted Poobah and several of us lesser Poobahs for a story. Which got picked up by Associated Press syndication. The Herald followed up with a contest for a bumper sticker slogan and "Kermit's Luck Guides Our Puck" was the winner. The next season, we swept the series and got Kermit back. 2 6 Quote

The Poobahs were a creative & comical force that should have become a tradition at UND instead of sputtering out after just a few years. Would be nice if today's student body developed something similar. 2 Quote

Fair enough, but it would be nice if it was a regular time, like the football red river rivalry or numerous other games that are always on a specific weekend. Maybe do it around Halloween. Students are always amped then. Quote

Stand on the front row seats, do mind games with opponents. But yes, the 1970s were more like “Slap Shot” than would be allowed today. 2 Quote

When I walk around the concourse to this day and look at the pictures of the All-Americans from the late 70’s and early 80’s for about the thousandth time, they still look like men to me. Hero’s is what they were as a kid growing up, watching them play. Epitome of Fighting Sioux hockey. This is an old picture of me at my very first UND hockey camp with Kevin Maxwell as our coach. Remember it like it was yesterday. My hero’s back then. This series is huge. All of UND nation will be paying attention. Do us proud, fellas and let’s go kick some rodent butt this weekend. 2 Quote
