Reading that Penn State will have to push back a recruit for McKenna. Layne Loomer is the guy that will get sent back to juniors supposedly. If they also add Martone, they will have to push another back. This is something to watch out for.

They are going to hang that participation banners next to the we got McKenna banner :D

Seriously, it is a toss up on which fans(ASU or PSU) are more obnoxious on social media. Both talk a lot of $hit when neither program has really done anything so far. Gonna hang that McKenna banner and retire his jersey number after he signs NHL contract.

Carter Berge of the Moose Jaw Warriors recently following UND’s socials.

Do you mean Owen Berge? Not exactly impressed with his stats, but looks like the team was terrible this year.

Ouch on that -40 +/-.
Might be the last forward spot if the other is Martone.  ;)

Yes, my mistake! Would be a depth add if we miss out on some top guys. With how stacked this lineup already is, I imagine you can only take 1 high level guy and 1 more depth player. He would fit the latter mold

I think he has two years of junior eligibility and we probably would just take on a player already committed to UND at that point. He definitely wouldn’t commit for next years team, imo.

Just mind-boggling to me that he's going there.
I mean, he's gonna be the #1 pick next year regardless, but going to a school that has no history at all of sending/preparing players for the NHL is crazy to me.

Sources tell me PSU has secretly developed both an altitude chamber and an East Coast Airs chamber.  That gets them by BU, BC, and DU.   Michigan hasn't been a major factor since these recruits' grandparents' time. UMinn?  PSU doesn't even need a Motzko chamber.

It sounds like McKenna will officially commit tomorrow. I wonder if the floodgates will open a little bit now that he is off of the board. I would guess all parties involved want to figure out where players are playing next year as soon as possible. Hopefully Bryn has something up his sleeve

Pegula blew his NIL load bringing in McKenna...nothing left for Martone.  ;)

You know Bryn is working Martone hard if Schloss mentioned it.  Hopefully they can close the deal with him instead of Michigan.
That'd be an elite winger to add to that top line.

Agreed. Schloss knew exactly what he was doing by firing off that tweet. He doesn’t name drop unless there is some truth to it.

From what I have seen, Penn State was full before McKenna and will have to make room. Martone would make two spots that would have to be opened up. Obviously you do that for a player like that.

Regarding Michigan, they made a few moves last week that may have filled most of their roster up. They also have some high end recruits that I would be hard to push to the bottom 6.

That's a good chunk of change right there.
I'm hopeful that PSU flounders next season and that money will have been spent in vain.  ;) :)

Good chunk of change for NCAA Hockey yes, but a mere rounding error for Terry Pegula.

I would think Michigan, North Dakota, Michigan State, & potentially others like Denver would be all over Porter Martone. Very interested to see how Michigan State pivots after falling just short in the Gavin McKenna recruiting battle; they're still the national championship favorite IMHO.

Yes, MSU, BU, and PSU all look very strong on paper.
If Howard from MSU ends up finally signing after they fell short on McKenna, that'd be a double blow.

I think Howard signs if they trade his rights to a team that he could play right away. Since the draft has already occurred, it is definitely less likely that his rights are dealt and he signs.

If Penn State is really out on Martone, it will be a battle of the blue bloods to get him. I expect him to go to a team with a high quality center. Michigan, North Dakota, Boston College, and Michigan State make a lot of sense. He is the exact player UND needs to fill their roster.

But the game is played on ice.

Yes, Schlossman especially can vouch for that after picking Western Michigan to finish 7th in the NCHC last year.

It was an interesting year that is for sure.
