Like everyone, I’m curious when we’ll get our big commit this year. Why would anybody decent want to go to Miami and get crushed every week? I suppose they are promised plenty of playing time if they're half decent. Quote

scpa0305 Posted Tuesday at 05:13 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:13 PM Noah Davidson (SSM) to BC…Cali kid, big get. He’s really solid. I thought we may have been in on him. Quote

yzerman19 Posted Thursday at 08:00 PM Posted Thursday at 08:00 PM prospects and more importantly their agents are hearing from guys with the same agency about the challenges right now at UND. If you wonder why we haven't landed a chippah, that would be why 3 Quote

You have to expect that gets around to players “why are you committing there when they will give up on you when your development doesn’t go as planned for a portal player.” If I was a high end player that grew up wanting to go to UND, I’d go somewhere else with what has been going on over the last 10 years. cberkas Posted Thursday at 08:17 PM Posted Thursday at 08:17 PM Miami gets Shikhabutoin Gadzhiev high end goalie that was going to Michigan Tech Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted Thursday at 08:26 PM Posted Thursday at 08:26 PM It kinda makes you wonder why we haven’t had any commits and we for sure need fowards for next year. Coaching staff holding cards close to the vest or sleeping at the switch. Quote

Like you said, we need forwards for next year. Quote

So you are good with Bowden Singelton, type guys who didn't pan out? Just about every team moves on from guys that haven't developed in juniors. 3 Quote

Bowden Singleton had one bad year and is on the same pace as the years before and after his bad year. Last year Berry playing a 5th year 4 line minutes over a Freshman that was doing the same as a 5th year on the same line. Quote

Who are you referring to that he dumped? A lot of really good programs have brought in portal players. Western Michigan brought in Costanini from UND, Brian Kramer from AIU, Robby Drazner from Miami, Cam Rowe from Wisconsin, Grant Slukynsky from Northern Michigan, and got Alex Bump and Hampton Slukynsky to change commitments. DU got Pohlkamp, last year got Tristan Broz and a few years ago got Cameron Wright from BGU. ASU has had many portal players, and they are really good because of it. The list goes on and on. Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted Thursday at 10:35 PM Posted Thursday at 10:35 PM So your saying we are not getting the right portal players? 1 Quote

No. We have had many very good portal players--Cameron Berg, Chris Jandric, Bennett Zmolek, Connor Ford. Even Logan Britt, Keaton Pehrson and Ty Farmer were not bad. Goalies have been a bit more hit and miss, but Zach Driscoll was good the 2nd 1/2 of his season at UND, DeRidder was okay, and Semptimphelter is good. Ludvig Persson not so much. Quote
yzerman19 Posted Thursday at 11:03 PM Posted Thursday at 11:03 PM Let's be completely honest with ourselves. What we offer to a potential recruit right now vs the other blue blood hockey programs is lacking. Our facilities are at par with the very best, but after that what are you getting that is better than say Michigan or Michigan State or Minnesota or BC or BU or even DU or ASU in our own conference? Lifestyle? I mean would you rather be a stud athlete walking around Ann Arbor or Comm Ave or at the pool at your dorm in ASU vs UND? Education wise, we aren't bad, obv aviation and related is great, but it isn't like going Ivy or Big 10. Facilities wise? Yeah, we are as good if not better than anybody, sure. Development to get you to the NHL...now this is where the rep has fallen...kids would sacrifice lifestyle and education potential if they 100% believed that the dev model was the best to get them to the NHL...why did Parise and Toews come here...yep, that's why...that, my friends, is where we need to focus. We are never going to offer a football game at the big house or the pool at the jock dorm at ASU in january...we need to be the place you go if you want the NHL and don't want any other distractions getting in the way. My two cents. 2 1 Quote
gfhockey Posted Thursday at 11:22 PM Posted Thursday at 11:22 PM I think a college kid would rather have 100 grand a year then play in the Ralph Englestad Arena Quote
SIOUXELEVENS Posted Thursday at 11:23 PM Posted Thursday at 11:23 PM I really don’t believe many college kids are getting 100 grand. Quote

We get Boisvert and Emery (NHL first rounders) and Swanson (yes not a big NHL pedigree but a big time college recruit) to come in. I'm certainly not doubting you as anyone can see something is obviously off with this program but just wondering how it could fall so far so fast and what is the root cause? Quote
yzerman19 Posted Thursday at 11:35 PM Posted Thursday at 11:35 PM I cant say for certain and am not "in the know" just remember that those guys didn't commit right before the season, they committed 2 years ago. 3 years ago Jake Sanderson was at UND Quote
