He’s an intense guy We had an intense guy coach WBB years ago and that worked out pretty well! 🙂 Good luck to Hutter and the players who stuck with UND. 1 Quote

und1995 Posted Wednesday at 03:48 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:48 PM I’m really excited to see the product on the court next year with Hutter as the head coach. He seems to have this program going in the right direction. 4 Quote

Nodak78 Posted Thursday at 10:59 PM Posted Thursday at 10:59 PM I know it is early. I believe this team with new comers is a big upgrade. Definitely more intensity with t,his coach. Quote

Can someone explain? Named 2A player of the year in Iowa twice. Holds 3 point record in a state tournament. Looks like she fought injuries the two years with USD. This team needs outside shooting. Now we have bigs to go with shooting and a point guard. Good pick up for und. She has 3 years remaining. Maybe stick to hockey. This is a upgrade from most of our transfers out 5 Quote
UND92,96 Posted Thursday at 11:33 PM Posted Thursday at 11:33 PM Since I really doubt UND will have a roster that exceeds 15, this presumably means that one of the seven hypothetical returnees must have had a change of plans. Quote
CMSioux Posted yesterday at 02:12 AM Posted yesterday at 02:12 AM Great opportunity for Hutton to build his own team and not be bogged down with someone else's recruits. Even in his initial media interview he was all in on focusing on the future and had already moved on from the past. Early odds say next years team wins more games than last years. 3 Quote

ND-fan Posted yesterday at 04:06 AM Author Posted yesterday at 04:06 AM I still haven't seen the final rules on roster limits with walk-ons we had two walk-ons with Mathern and new recruit from Grand Forks Reardon as walk-on. This could mean we could have scholarships left to be filled. This could be our last scholarship available but we could be carrying 16 players or possibility as high as 17 players if rules allow this to be done if they are adding 5 years to the playing time anything may be possible. My understanding is that for schools that opted out of the NCAA settlement, the scholarship limit remains at 13, but the roster cap of 15 doesn't apply. So yes, UND could hypothetically have a roster with more than 15 next season, but at least three would have to be non-scholarship in that scenario. I don't see who the third non-scholarship player would be, unless somebody previously on scholarship agreed to come back as a non-scholarship player, which seems unlikely. I think the more likely explanation is that somebody who originally planned to return now isn't. Quote

NewUndFan Posted yesterday at 03:10 PM Posted yesterday at 03:10 PM Do we know if VanderWal is coming back for sure? I know she said in a interview during the season that she was graduating and I thought she said moving on with a nursing degree. Also maybe I am missing someone, but dont we have 6 scholarship players including Vanderwal and we have 6 Scholarship players signed and coming in next year? This portal got me all messed up! Quote

I don't think we know for certain one way or the other. I know Hutter mentioned something about seven returning players at his press conference, and it would seem that would have had to include VanderWal, since there was a 15-person roster and eight left in the portal, but it's certainly possible she's not actually coming back. I am assuming Hillesheim, Harvey, Harris, Ohnstad, Ava Miller, Hanna Miller, Hughes and Klosterbuer would all be on scholarship. If so, then there could only be five scholarship players coming back from this past season. 2 Quote
ND-fan Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago Women’s basketball has been 15 scholarships where men’s were 13 scholarship but now that has increased to 15. I seen looking past rules you could have 15 scholarships and 16 players which I believe were at right now.. Demers, VanderWal, Volmer, pienky, Aumer, mathern, Flechter are seven, then Hillisheim, Harris, Ohnstad, Ava Miller, Hanna Miller, Hughes, Harvey, and Klosterbuer would be 8 giving 15 scholarships and Reardon would be walk-on getting us to 16 players. If this is the rules and women’s basketball had 15 scholarships where men had 13 never understood why difference. I haven’t seen any final rules on rosters and scholarships have read number of proposals but thought they were soon have meeting finalize whether schools were in out ncaa court settlement. The problem believe if impose any rule probably go back to court who know if it would be upheld. After going doing the numbers looks like we’re at old limits for the roster limits. Quote
