SJHovey Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago The USCHO Weekend Review podcast guys are pumping up the NCHC, and UND, DU and UMD in particular, to a level I can’t recall eastern guys doing before. We’re probably due to fall on our faces. 🤣 Quote

brianvf Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Reschny playing both sides of the ice: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-freshman-cole-reschny-showing-value-on-both-sides-of-the-ice Quote The UND freshman now has 10 points in his first 10 college games. In doing so, he joined select company. In the last 20 years, only two UND players tallied 10 points in 10 games to start their careers — Jackson Blake in 2022-23 and Tyson Jost in 2016-17. The last UND freshman to tally more than that was Brady Murray, who had 14 points in his first 10 games in 2003-04. Reschny is outpacing a lot of his fellow first-round NHL Draft picks — T.J. Oshie (nine points), Nick Schmaltz (nine), Jonathan Toews (seven), Brock Boeser (seven), Travis Zajac (seven), Sacha Boisvert (seven), Derek Forbort (seven), Jake Sanderson (six), Brian Lee (six) and Brock Nelson (four) among them. Quote Reschny's all-around game might be among the most impressive parts to his fast start. UND is not shying the 18-year-old away from the defensive zone. He's No. 2 on the team in defensive zone draws, only behind senior Ellis Rickwood. Reschny has been outstanding in the faceoff circle, winning 59.6% of his draws. Quote UND freshman scoring Since 2005-06, through 10 games Jackson Blake 4-6—10 Tyson Jost 3-7—10 Cole Reschny 2-8—10 Riese Gaber 7-2—9 Will Zellers 5-4—9 Jake Schmaltz 4-5—9 T.J. Oshie 3-6—9 Nick Schmaltz 2-7—9 Quote
sioux rube Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Listening to Spittin Chicklets this morning and they had the assistant coach Bob Stauffer of the Oilers on. He’s been following Verhoeff since he was 13. Anyhoo he said he’s the best D man he’s seen out of western Canada in 25 years and guarantees he will be in the NHL next season. Obviously we all hope he’s wrong but man he was pumping his tires 1 Quote

Obviously we all hope he’s wrong but man he was pumping his tires I just listened to this as well. For those who haven’t, he essentially said that the more time team spend watching or interviewing Verhoeff, the more they will fall in love with him. He said he’s going to absolutely crush his interviews because of his maturity. Unless he goes first in the draft, I think he comes back next year and signs when the season is over. From interviews he has done, it doesn’t seem like he is in a rush to get to the next level. It all comes down to the team that selects him. 1 Quote
