Good solid forward who has a little bit of scoring touch. Doesn’t score a ton but high energy guy. I think he torched UND the season prior down in the Springs.

Oh yeah, that nightmare weekend in Colorado Springs, he was dominant for long stretches. Wonder if he wants to go back further east, from Toronto, family been through a lot with poverty/finances, would be nice for them to have a shorter trip to see him play. His older brother still in the Flyers organization.

It was so cool- his brother was on some sort of break and made the trip out to the Springs a month or so ago to see Zach play and he scored a goal that weekend. I thought that was pretty cool.

Our old friend Tyler Dunbar of Colorado College in the portal as well. Seems like an easy CCHA target, especially for the Michigan schools given he's from Sault Ste Marie Michigan.

If your parents are paying a family advisor/agent there is little to no chance you are going to ever play serious professional hockey.....similar to having your parents buy your way onto a travel baseball team.

If they see potential payday down the road they(agents) will find you.

Haven't heard much talk on here about UND opting out of revenue sharing due to title 9 issues, any opinions?

A couple of things here. From what I've read, UND is planning on opting in next season. The reason they didn't for this coming season is because they want to wait and see how the roster limitations of 26 per team shake out, there is a lot of talk that the number will be increased the following season so it's a smart move by UND to wait it out a year. Secondly, foreign players cannot earn NIL deals in the U.S. (as stated in above quote) so we can put to rest the notion that Boisvert left because of a 150k deal.

How many big corporations does Grand Forks have at it's disposal compared to Minneapolis, Denver, and the other big cities in college hockey.  I hope something can get figured out or we may go the way of Duluth and have to build a freshman class that all sticks around to make a run year 3 and 4.  We don't have the benefit of an autobid like Mankato in a lesser conference.  Also it's a bad look to lose these guys today.

I believe I read a schloss article a little while back that cited title 9 issues being the main reason, could be wrong.  I believe Canadians are able to be payed in other ways not classified as "NIL"

There are ways to do it, however they are likely viewed differently at big time schools.

A Canadian on a different teams was able to do some things that qualified while back home on break and receive NIL funds for it because they were able to show how it benefited UND and was also done in his home country.

UND is doing things on the up and up so there won't be any issues with "market value" or the clearinghouse down the road but I don't think that's the case at all schools. Some appear to blatantly be pay for play but without knowing the details, though to prove.

Might just have to build the roster the old way: 1 or 2 elite guys, several solid skilled but tough guys that aren't high end NHL prospects, and some more character guys at the bottom of the lineup. Definitely able to reshape the roster through the portal as well as grab some high end or even middle tier CHLers who reshape this roster quickly.

Big corporations, not a lot. A pool of NHL players, current and alums who are worth millions of dollars, we have a lot. Time to give back
