So when does Mckenna commit?🙂

Obviously that is a hope and a prayer at this point, but like that we landed a guy we wanted. Hopefully we see another couple guys soon.

A few key additions, some development, a goalie and a coaching change. Hopefully this ship turns around quickly. College rebuilds can be very quick with the right guy in charge. Hope this works out!!

Blue chips play with blue chips. He’s not going to come here.

He’ll commit to Michigan a few weeks after Medicine Hat’s season is over in the WHL playoffs.

It seems as though we’re taking a page out of Mike Hastings recruiting playbook. I don’t entirely disagree with it…we need to get back to the tournament and start building this program back up the way Dean did.

You seem to get hung up on prospect status which I understand but teams loaded with blue chips have yet to actually win a championship. Michigan is always loaded with blue chips and how long has it been for them?

Just had this conversation with a buddy yesterday who is a gopher fan and he said the same thing. Gopher always pull in high end skill, but never get the guys who are willing to go into the corners and do the dirty work.

Even Alex Bump was the same mold, great player, but if you have a whole team full of that, you will struggle. Need some role players, need some kids who will stick around.

I am not actually.  I was saying taking overagers is a strategic way to get back to the tourney. Let’s just hope it works…the kid that just committed had 14 total pts the two years prior in an avg league. We’ve had transfers that have put up pts in softer leagues before.

At the very least seems to be a nice two way role player. At the end of the day, I trust Chyz though.

For what its worth, Cooper Simpson sounds like a similar type of player. I was talking to his HS coach (as he coaches my kid's AAA team) the other week and he certainly had great things to say about Cooper...had just talked to him the night before and said everything with UND was still on track despite coaching changes.

Skill player, fast player, but will probably need someone who can get him the puck. Excited to see what this kid brings!

Your blue chips play with blue chips comment came off that way. Thanks for clarification. 👍🏼

One way or another, you need a threshold amount of speed and skill to win big.  Blais' mantra.

I agree with that, but I also think your role players are just as important. You don't win those big games in NCAA without guys like Sanderson, Chyzyk, Olson....Michigan, Minnesota, BC and BU all prove my point.

Maybe in a lot of cases but not all the time.

Agreed…in very very rare cases. A blue chip commits somewhere with zero other blue chips. Again…this was in reference to folks thinking McKenna will commit here.

UND plays at Clarkson for a series this upcoming season too. That should be fun for him.
Seems like a solid pickup. Still hoping for 1 or 2 high end CHL players to light the lamp.
