This is the ultimate selling point to any high level high school recruit that may not be getting the P4 offers they are hoping for. You tell them to come to UND and play well for 2-3 years and then you can transfer to whereever you want AND get paid. That’s what the good coaches at this level are doing and will do. exactly....see the positive in this....everything goes uphill....now it's time for our staff to grab guys to fill his spot and tell him about his opportunites like trey has/had.... just like the douche down south...he activlely helped grant get the best money and spot available...classy move by a !@#!$! 1 Quote

HoopsFan03 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Amar in the portal. A little shocked but not mad at all about it. Quote
NewUndFan Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I've totally changed my outlook on the portal. Not about what we are losing but what we could possibly get! Only wish we had a coach i felt confident in that could nail it.... Sather has had alot of misses in his recruiting. I wouldn't mind adding a few power 4 players that are dropping down to add some experience with high level high school players Quote
GoodGood Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Congrats to whatever team gets to watch Amar shoot his 24% 3 point shot one pass into a possession. Will not miss him 1 Quote

Major problem here; couple this with minimal to no NIL dollars for UND MBB and I really don’t think Sather can turn this thing around. Need new coaching staff for culture reset and hopefully NIL dollars accumulate for UND basketball sometime over the next 5-10 years. 1 1 Quote
ND-fan Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago The small mid-major conferences are going to die with this kind of movement each year how do market your program when you only have players for one or two years at best expect to compete have any chance in NCAA tournament of winning. I look at the Summit will not even be as good as NSIC conference in division II. The sales point for going Division I was to get to next level and to see better quality of basketball but fact is we’re not getting that top of division I won’t come to small Mid-major and now when we do get quality athlete he will begone in year. If they want Mid-major programs to survive they are going to have change college basketball rules I believe where players have 5 years of eligibility and in first year they have right to transfer but after that they make commitment for 2 years without transferring and then remaining years they can transfer like they do now. This still gives players right to move but gives schools some return on expense developing players that are ready to play full time at top level. If this is going to be professional basketball there should be contract that can be done to protect both parties. Even smaller mid-majors would have NIL money to compensate for years 2 and 3 for players would be similar to rookie contracts that are signed by professional teams now. Quote

Smaller schools will have to market themselves as a juco almost. A way to come play for 2 years and use it as a stepping stone to a bigger conference. Now will that work out when they leave who knows. Some guys will take that opportunity and others like with King and Mier you pick up guys who are dropping down looking for a bigger role 1 Quote

ND-fan Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago It’s not just marketing yourself to players but to your fans to get them come to games and be donors for your program. Then it comes to media television you have to have viewing audience if level basketball is not good enough people will not watch. Baseball has gone through this and you see what it has done for small markets teams. I also think the big market teams may soon want to jettison number small mid-major conferences we are in new era and restructuring college sports or should I say professional sports. Quote

Unfortunate reality of low major basketball. 1 Quote
