And staying positive about a dumpster fire has accomplished what?

I’m referring to the 360 podcast. They have a following that allows those who are interested in UND FB to learn more about the program and to get an insight from someone who excelled at every sport he played and played at UND. He has connections that most of us don’t. His criticism of the program will likely remain private.

I have no issue with those who want to publicly criticize. In my experience, the public bashing, personal insults etc. get people nowhere. However, I don’t think we should expect the same type of criticism from their program.

Fair enough.

willfully ignoring the elephant in the room is also detrimental

I can promise you these guys aren’t ignoring the elephant in the room. They just aren’t going use their podcast to communicate with the decision makers.

Also, Kelly has been critical on the 360 account before and had a really good post yesterday, basically saying there isn’t much to say at this point

Having TM asking some hard hitting questions game to game over the years would have helped get some insight as to Bubba's true value or detriment to this program. I struggle to think he has made every single dumba$$ in game decision over a decade but who knows if no one asks.

You think bubba would’ve really given meaningful answers?

I would argue that most calls are made by the OC or DC. The head coach oversees the entire operation and they usually inject their opinions and direction early in the week and during film sessions. The head coach may over rule certain calls or inject direction occasionally but most calls are the coordinators in most systems. Not all, some HC’s want to call their own plays.

No need to be on your high horse now. I would assume none of the people tagged are happy with what’s going on.

Nobody is on their high horse.

Just would love to hear the Bubba supporters thoughts on the game yesterday.

Thanks.

I just don’t know who we’d hire, not that that’s my job but I am interested in potential targets. I know Todd Hoffner is a popular name but he’s almost as old as Bubba. I’d prefer a young up and comer. I mean I think I’ve been clear that my top vote would be Danny but not sure that would be super popular. Otherwise, we need fresh blood.

We’ll get to that once Chaves and/or Armacost (or someone else of great influence) makes the obvious decision to part ways with Bubba Schweigert.

As for my take on the matter, it is hiring someone who knows what it takes to implement a winning culture. That usually means a division II head coach who has done it and sustained it himself (DeBoer was this given what he did at USF), or it could be a coordinator from a winning program, but that coordinator needs to be someone of longevity from that program.

The risk of taking a coordinator or position coach that has no successful head coaching experience is that they may be a product of the winning culture, not someone who built and directed it themselves. But if it is someone who has been a part of the culture for a while and knows what it takes, then it worth a chance. There’s certain programs at all levels (FBS, FCS, division II) that should be top of the list for UND (potentially) as far as searching for potential candidates.

I don't think anyone is happy about any of this.

The problem with the people tagged in the post above is when anyone points out a problem or shortcoming with this team, they will come back with patronizing comments such as (paraphrasing here):"You don't understand", "Money doesn't grow on trees so we can't do anything about it", "The athletes are doing well in class and in the community, so wins and losses aren't that important", and so on. Their passive attitude towards 15+ years of FCS mediocrity is what gets under people's skin. Being passive about all this won't get us out of it.

He won't hear from me because I have him blocked. Of course I am disappointed, it would take a miracle to get to 7-5 and it still might not be enough. As I have said many times it's still just a game played by students. You can choose how it affects your life. I bleed green and white (and pink) but never gonna call for someone to be fired.

Play one different player on the sideline and we win by 3. Play a few more on the sideline and we win by 17. Quit whatever we call that defense and pressure the ball like every other football team in the country and we win by 31.

The players are college kids, but the coaches are paid professionals who should be held to a certain standard.

And I, like others here, "choose" to care about the state of our programs.
