Mayville not as good this year so we will win. Although, last years Mayville team would have had a good shot to win again.

Nah we hired their coach so wouldn’t happen again

UND has two prevalent type of turn overs that are creating number of turn overs this year the one is we are getting turnovers from the guards either by traveling or making poor passes on the drive or bringing the ball up the court. This is result of either trying to go to fast or we are not as quick as our opponent. Second is guard dribbling the ball off their legs or feet again we’re trying to gain advantage over opponent. All these can be corrected either by mentally slowing down getting your body under control and if we’re not quick enough to beat them one on one then you need to beat them passing and screening working as team to get open. This cuts down on individual play and scoring something not easy to players at this level to do. The second area is our post players sliding pivot foot or changing pivot foots here I believe is harder to correct because of this after offensive rebound. The big difference here usually  does not lead to points off the turnover in transition. But the turnovers by guards is area where we need to cut down this where we are getting transition where we are giving up points on turnovers. I don’t expect this team to get to low turnovers but if they could get turnovers under 15 and down to say 12 we would have chance to win games with our rebounding second chance points.

Tonight is Mayville State. Yes, that Mayville State right down the road, the team we lost to last year. They are 8-4 this year.

They have one player at 6 foot and one at 5’11”  - the rest are shorter. They average 85 points and 11 three pointers a game. All of their players are from North Dakota and Minnesota.

I note this because this should be a run away game for us. As in we are up by 25 at the half. We should dominate every aspect of this game.
let’s not disappoint - focus on their three pointers shooters. Our bigs should be able to handle their post players without any help. Any post player they have should be in foul trouble early trying to stop our posts.

I agree that we should win by these margins but I think there are things they can do offset size. I wouldn’t be surprised we see zone defense to take away the middle or form of match up man to man. Second we need to shoot well from outside if we don’t do that the game will be not be blow out. Last year they were quicker than us and we didn’t play as team. They are smaller but they are quick as team. Still I don’t think the game will be close by end of the game and if it is we have played one poor game.

They are quicker than we are they great first step and their match up zone with tree quickness is taking away our size. Even Schiller is quick but Hughes is as quick and better first step. We are not hitting anything from outside and without that with there zone is taking away the inside game.  Our quickness and poor shooting is what they are taking advantage of against us.

Didn’t we talk about this last year? Good naia teams can beat bad d1 teams. The difference is mayville isn’t even good this year

Mayville will end up alright this year, still have 3 solid players. Dakota State or any top NAIA team easily beats this UND team IMO.

Mayvile State roster is all ND and MN. Dakota State roster is basically all the surrounding Midwest states.

Sorry meant good as in a top 10 naia program. Agree with everything you said

It is really hard to believe where Mal has taken this once proud program.  Gene Roebuck would have broken 5 clipboards by now.  Of course if Gene were here, we would never look like this either.  Dribble through  zone press - turnover.  Hold the ball forever and not recognize they are playing zone - bad shot or turnover.  No defense.  No fire other than Schiller.  We are on course to surpass our own turnover record of 28.  Likely going to beat it tonight.  It is getting really hard to talk myself into going to watch these.  Clearly time for a change…
