Sometimes as a coach you have to get the attention of a player.  The goal that was scored during the 4x4 may let a player know that they made a mistake.  Now I cannot speak for hockey specifically, my major amount of coaching was in a sport that is somewhat like hockey but not the same.  But I have benched a player.
