The Sicatoka Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 20? Four "final five" format regionals. But 16 is already more than 25% of the number of DI teams and 25% is the target number. They'll never go to 20 teams until DI gets to about 75 teams. Quote

Kab Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Would this be included in season ticket prices? at that time of year fans are looking forward to spring and summer, will they support more games? out of town fans might not see it as appealing, the basketball tourneys outside of the big one aren’t very well attended Quote

There was a recent article (don't recall where I read it) that said something along the lines of that the NCAA wanted to get to closer to 50% of teams participating in the NCAA tourney (not just for hockey...for all sports). siouxfan512 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 If there was a tourney, would UND participate? Yes. How can anyone who knows anything about hockey not find value in additional games/tourney experience. Should UND participate? Yes. While it would be somewhat embarrassing for a program like UND to participate in the Not Invited Tourney/Backup Tourney/Whatever you want to call it, is it any less embarrassing than missing the tourney altogether? The questions not in the poll. Should there be a tourney? No. I don't think college hockey is deep enough to really support more than one tourney. Lets focus on fixing the regional situation so the teams who earned a spot aren't playing in empty arenas. If there was an argument to be made: It would give Omaha another opportunity for a participation banner. Quote

That does not align with the recommendation of the Transformation Committee (25% post-season for sports that have 200 or more teams participating). Quote

If they can't make money, it won't happen. Would be similar to the "extra" postseason MBB/WBB tournaments. How much are schools willing to chip in for some extra practice and games? Quote
