Not sure if this belongs here…. Fargo paper “NDSU President warns deep budget cuts 2023 to 2025 due to decreased enrollment.” They are talking about a loss of $113M due to decreased tuition. Then another editorial states “We are a strong academic institution. We should stop treating it like a host only for a football team.” Interesting reading……I hope we do not face cuts like that. How is our enrollment????

Community - Budget Cuts thread, please. :)

... unless you want to talk specifically about new guy NDSU prez Cook daring to say publicly at the podium that cuts could expand into ... football. :0

Next week in the valley, the only two important games of note to UND fans

YSU (5-3) @ ISU Red (5-3)

This is the most important game in the Valley if you are a UND fan (not counting UNDs game against ISU Blue).  Both of these teams are battling to get into playoff contention.  Whoever wins this game is going to have a major leg-up in getting that spot.  A YSU win will defintely help UNDs resume and given the next week, they have to go to Brookings, basically all but end ISU Red's playoff hopes.  Could the Penguins realistically win out and get to 8-3 even?

Now, if ISU Red wins, then their path to 7 is very realistic given they finish the season at home verses Western Illinois.  YSU could still get there by beating Mo State and SIU, but would be behind the pecking order of UND and ISU Red if all 3 are at 7-4.

SDSU (8-1) @ UNI (5-4)

Well look at this, UNI has won 3 in a row and suddenly, their playoff chances are very legitament.  The big thing missing is a statement win:  Enter SDSU, who has a lot to play for.  They can lock up the Valley Title with a win. (Think about this, if UNI had found away to beat UND and ISU Red, losing to both teams by a combined 4 points, this would be for the championship).

This is still a win or go home game for UNI, 6-5 isn't enough for them to get in.  Now if they pull the upset at home?  7 become very doable with a trip to Verm to end the year and with 2 week to prepare for it.

SDSU cannot afford a slip up if they want the road to Frisco to run through Brookings.

Halftime score

NAU. 21

MSU 17

NAU might turn out to be a very good win.

Would love to see NAU win this one.  For some reason everyone seems to think the Big Sky is the best this year and MVFC down.  Well it could be that the 3-7 MVFC teams are all pretty good, it's just that they have been beating each other.
