i looked at CC's conference...a d3 league based 99% in Texas....do they not have the money or want to go d1 or are they happy where they are?

with this new arena does it open itself up to a move up?

CC is happy where they're at.

omaha>umkc??????

Omaha? That's more nostalgia than reality.

MVC BB used to have the Omaha market with Creighton (now in BEast).

The MVC is going after either schools that'll help with NCAA BB tourney payouts or growing metropolitans (to leach students from). Frankly, UNO checks neither box.

they have had convos...it isn't out the realm of possibility....

that's the problem with the current setup of the summit...everyone wants to leave...fenton needs to lock it up

CC is happy with DI hockey and living the niche DIII life in Colorado.

Their new hockey arena (3600) would hold their student body (2000) ... nearly twice over.

why not drop their two d1 programs to d3 and just be done with it...they haven't been relevant in hockey for quite a while and i don't see that changing and their soccer team doesn't look to powerful either?

Here's my guess on the new Fenton NCC 2.1 (merging of Summit, NCHC, and MVFC)

UND - 3 (FB, Oly, Hockey)

NDSU - 2 (FB and Oly)

USD - 2 (FB and Oly)

SDSU - 2 (FB and Oly)

Omaha - 2 (Oly and Hockey)

Denver - 2 (Oly and Hockey)

Saint Thomas - 3 (FB, Oly, Hockey)

Western Illinois -2 (FB and Oly)

Saint Cloud - 2 (Oly and Hockey)

Minnesota State - 3 (FB, Oly, and Hockey)

Duluth - 2 or 3 (FB?, Oly, and Hockey)

Colorado College - 1 or 2 (Oly? and Hockey)

8 for Football

8 for Hockey

12 for Olympic

+poach UNI and sub for CC but with the new arena can/would CC go D1?

No more D2’s. The Summit needs to poach some MVC teams and sponsor all sports including football. NSIC teams should not be in the conversation. CC uh hell no!

This is sounding less likely.
UMKC isn't committing to improving their BB facilities.

Why in the world would the MVC want UMKC. If they are that desperate then the summit should easily be able to sponsor football and steal UNI and Mo St.

Fenton needs to position the conference to move to FBS if that becomes necessary

agreed.....but a school like minnesota state IF they went D1 imo would be a better get than UNI in no time....plus they have hockey already

uni and missouri state would be nice to have over most d2 move ups agreed. but if they don't want to jump let's get who we can and keep em

oral bob, umkc, omaha and other could/would leave at any minute

i'm all for adding minnesota state to the current nchc and summit tho....

What would they do with FB?  Kato wouldn't just drop football to make everything else work.

Plus they have an 60 year old problem with Blakeslee that doesn't have plans to be replaced anytime soon.

how much money could they raise if they were getting an nchc and summit (or combined) league invites?

Is that supposed to help your argument here?  I like Mankato for many reasons but I think Northern Colorado to the Big Sky serves as a great example - only send an invite if there is a guarantee of some sort that facilities will be improved, which to me means that shovels should pretty much be in the ground.

I would want UNI first, as they wouldn't dilute recruitment and taking a program like that from the mvc would be huge for the imaging and league perception.  Dakotas, St. Thomas, Mankato, UNO, Denver would be a great cor of 8.
