UND to cut women's hockey

Und should not bring back womens hockey after they cut the program pretty much set the tone cant be trusted and reading this forum majority say it’s a waste so why would any decent recruit even think about headed to UND!   St Thomas took UND spot in WCHA and they seem to  being doing fine with it. WCHA doesn’t need UND. But on the other side can’t be denied is that Women’s hockey is growing been 10 new division 1 womens programs since UND cut in 2017 and now the PWHL pro League, where Seattle averaged   12K fans last year that’s more than UND men’s hockey!  Only going to grow!

Cutting women’s hockey was the right move at the time and remains as the only decision that could have been made to position UND where they are at today.

If I remember correctly the official attendance for the last home women’s playoff game, against Ohio State, was 210 souls.

Official attendance normally is defined as tickets sold.

I assume 40’of those were probably parents tix that aren’t paid for so a nice like $1600 at the gate!

Women’s hockey has grown in popularity and unlike the past there are a lot of North Dakota girls playing all the way up and through high school 

But, like UND Football, it would still lose money.  Just not as much as in the past

Valid points all around.  No matter how it's swung, it stings not to have a D1 women's program at schools like UND, Michigan (s), Denver, CC, etc.  Meanwhile Bemidji State, St. Cloud...schools like Franklin Pierce are "D1".  

In a perfect world, Wrestling, Baseball, etc would still be around too.

Cash is king.
