Wish that group got a chance at the dance.... Quote

Based purely on competing offers, could we say Sather has already landed one of the more highly sought after recruits in program history? Quote

UNDhoops Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 tough to tell from a highlight reel obviously but he doesn't look like he's half the athlete huff was (i assume that is who is being alluded to) Quote

Good find and a nice addition but more highly sought after by whom? Am I missing something here? Quote

Am I missing something here? He had 4 other D1 offers according to Tom Miller. That is relatively high compared to most of our current and former players. As we've seen with other players that had a lot of offers, this doesn't mean he's going to be a great player. Just pointing out that Sather has apparently already gone head to head with other D1s and came away with a commit. Although I suppose it's also entirely possible those other offers were no longer valid. Quote

But if you don't have at least a more than 50/50 shot at hitting an open jumper, your effectiveness as a D1 player is diminished. You can offset that by having 4 other offensive minded players on the court at the same time, I don't know if UND has that, but if they do he would be a very good addition as a slasher/defensive specialist. Tougher to dunk at this level due to bigger more athletic defenders than kids see in HS or prep school. Time will tell. I guess out recruiting low level D1 schools doesn’t impress me much. Nothing against the kid. Great to have him. Quote
bincitysioux Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I didn't watch his film, but the article and his quotes had me thinking of Troy Huff. Not saying he will necessarily be one of UNDs all time greats, but Huff was a terrible shooter as a freshman, but by the time he was a senior he had improved his outside game significantly........ jdub27 Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 His midrange shot is fine, his 3 point shot is where he needs a little work. He's got a handful of videos out there that show him shooting. At this point, I don't think there is a concern. His name was getting out there after passing his entrance exam, Sather did a great job on this one. Quote
UND Fan Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 I know Sather really wanted this kid so I assume he will be a contributor! Quote
Feff Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 An outside shot is something that can be developed during his time in college. What I like is the athleticism and ability to finish at the rim. Being able to drive and penetrate is something that can only help the rest of the team by breaking down defenses and opening shots elsewhere. Quote

Can’t teach a guy to jump. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I think the other thing that is being hyped about this kid is his defensive ability. Which I love to hear. I do wonder what time of minutes he will get (assuming he will play mainly in the 2 spot, some in the 3 spot) if he plays year 1 (I would think he would, but at the same time if it took him until recently to qualify..) Still have one more scholarship to play with, hope to hear what Sather brings in with this one and hopefully it will be very soon. Quote
