Seventy-eight

Wisconsin has over 90.

Those are just the rowers on the website roster.  They may report more.  According to this Omaha W-H report, Wisco reported 176 members on its women's rowing team in 2018.

You need that many participants to scrimmage in pract...

Nevermind.

St. Cloud was very much involved with the NCAA in getting the NCAA to restrict/eliminate Indian nicknames, mostly because we played them in multiple sports. They didn't want opposing Indian named sports teams visiting their campus. That's the short version.

They shot thousands of arrows at us in the late 90's and 2000's for our Sioux nickname, which effected us.

OLD SCHOOL: Do we owe them a payback?

NEW SCHOOL: Do we thank them?

Now for the Huskies:
St. Clouds State's early nicknames included Normals, Teachers, Peds, Bear Cats, and Flying Clouds.
Then a story has it that the present name originated from the FB team, referred to in the 1930's as the football huskies, relating to the team's size - intended to mean burly, robust or large, one that is husky. While this led to the nickname Huskies, the name's meaning was shortly thereafter changed to mean the dog. Over time various Husky dog logos were used.  In 2014, the University updated its secondary logo, which features a Husky dog face.

OLD SCHOOL: Now without FB, is it politically correct to continue the use of Huskies?

NEW SCHOOL: Will all this take the bite out of their bark.
