niouxsiouxfan
Shanks and Cashman need to develop some consistency both mentally and physically this offseason. They both need to build some strength. Cashman and Shanks need to focus on their post moves, finishing strong, and rebound, rebound, rebound. More for Shanks than Cashman, work on that mid range shot. The development of these two, plus Shields, IMO will the main factor for any real contendership in the Sky. It helps to have the guards, and our guards will be very solid. But the pessimist in me says we will end up with this schedule. Weber x2 EWU x2 Montana x2 Which means seeing Jois, Buening, and Bolumboy twice. I'm not saying they need to be dominating YET.... but they need to be able to handle their own more times than not. They did at times last year, but they need to do it a hell of a lot more next year. This is supposed to be positive! Seeing those teams twice is NOT POSITIVE! Maybe the powers that be will take into consideration this last year. But you are probably right. Let's play! What better way to see where we are at. UND-FB-FAN
Two of last year's transfer juniors will not be returning for their senior seasons. I'm sure you can guess who those two are.

Any idea if that was the players choice or a coaches decision? Edit: looks like you edited your post and removed the names...

I don't want to be too revealing, as I'm not too sure on the details. Just know they won't be returning. One is personal while I believe the other is performance-based. On a side note, maybe this means the Adidas deal got done...

dmksioux
So playas are leaving cause of the Adidas deal? Lol wow You have no inside knowledge of this?!? I'm shocked. Btw, it was my attempt at humor based on who isn't coming back and their opinion on wearing Adidas shoes. I have no idea if the Adidas deal is any closer to be done. dmksioux
Are they the two obvious ones? I.e: ones speculated on the player departure thread? Seems pretty obvious which ones to me, even with already seeing the names. At least one is pretty obvious anyways. Was this reported anywhere btw or just word of mouth? I think it's probably the guy who had limited minutes but probably should have played more.
UND92,96
Assuming this is true, it brings up an interesting question--does Jones go the transfer route again, or just try to find the best unsigned high school player(s) he can now that a scholarship or two is available? I know which option I'd prefer. The quick fix hasn't worked very well so far.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on a 3-point specialist and hope he develops into a more well-rounded player.

UND-1
I assume we are talking about deRouen and Coleman? Coleman would be a loss but deRouen wouldn't be. There a bunch of high school guards who can do what he did. MSUM has several.

nodakhoops
I assume we are talking about deRouen and Coleman? Coleman would be a loss but deRouen wouldn't be. There a bunch of high school guards who can do what he did. MSUM has several. Said this in another thread before and makes even more sense now. Who would've been better for this program? DeRouen or a kid like Tanner Kretchman for 4-5 years? I am also watching a game right now on ESPNU with Illnois State playing. There is a young man named Justin McCloud getting minutes for Ill St. in the NIT. He averaged 3 a game for a MVC team that made the NIT. Guess where Justin grew up? Bottineau ND. He had 0 D1 offers out of high school and a bunch of D2 ones after his first year at BSC. After is 2nd year at BSC he had an offer from Ill St. UND had 3 chances to have this kid and probably could've had him walk on out of high school. Not saying UND needs all local kids but there has been enough talented in state or MN IA that we didn't need to go to New Mexico for one. I watched McCloud play in the lions game in HS and he was the best athlete on the court which included Dexter Werner and Mack Arvidson. I'll give an example. Bubba has Elijah Grady coming to play next year. Elijah probably would've went FBS had his highlight tape hit the internet sooner, but he is coming to UND. Big reason for that is Bubba and his staff got themselves in every school in the state and MN last spring and discovered the hidden local gems. Basketball would be even easier. Ask around to local coaches and get the top 5-10 kids in each class and do whatever it takes to get them to camp in the summer, and then we probably end up with people like Justin McCloud on our roster instead of Ill. St.

dmksioux
so can some let us know who is actually leaving? How about this as a hint...it's not Coleman. At least according to UND-FB's original post. No idea how accurate his initial info was tho.
