MafiaMan
The Cubs aren't a small-market team, but they act like one. When fans stop showing up at Wrigley Field, ownership will spend some bucks on the team. As long as they're raking in money, why would they increase expenditures? It's kinda like the first 3-5 years of the Minnesota Wild...

When Wrigley Field is a bigger draw than winning, that tells you why they haven't won a title in over 100 years. If George Steinbrenner was still alive and owned the Cubs, he would spend what it takes to win. But if Cub fans don't care, why should we? SiouxScore
Sad news, St. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Oscar Taveras died in a car accident at the age of 22. Very sad had a very bright future I believe his last at bat was a pinch hit homerun in the postseason.
MafiaMan
Very sad had a very bright future I believe his last at bat was a pinch hit homerun in the postseason. I don't know if that was his last at-bat, but you're correct on the pinch-hit home-run against the Giants in game 2 of the NLCS... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdwSWyt8tOg

UND-RedSox fan
Anyone else think that they should have tried to send Gordon home last night? I think he would have gotten out but it would have been close. I think he had a better chance at scoring on that play than hoping for a second hit in a row off of Baumgarner. Said the same thing to my wife. Should of sent him especially with free swinging Perez up and Bumgarner on the mound.
The Sicatoka
And that one pitch was from a ceremonial first pitch. That's not true. It was the right field line ball girl returning a foul ball.
