SiouxVolley
i wouldn't say they were welcomed...more like accepted...with certain terms and conditions that may or may not come true. stay tuned bisons fans.Exactly. The Big Sky acceptance document says something like, while it is not immediately possible for Idaho football to join the Big Sky, we look forward to when Idaho football will also be under the conference umbrella. Why do NDSU fans not mock the ADs or Presidents of the MVFC who have publicly campaigned for FBS? Those schools include UNI, Ill St, Mo St, Ind St, and Youngstown St. Hypocrites those bizons. Those schools want to leave the ranks of FCS too, if they get a chance. Or call in to Colin Cowherds show and give him hell for saying EWU will be FBS soon. If any of those MVFC teams go FBS, they will join an existing conference. I won't include IN State and MO State, but the rest of those schools would be competitive in FBS, in much better shape than Idaho will ever be. Idaho could be competitive if they could get into the MWC and build from there, but not in the Sunbelt long term. And the Big Sky would never kick out Idaho, they worked to hard to bring them in. Idaho is in the Big Sky on their terms.
SiouxVolley
http://www.ironcountytoday.com/view/full_story/26742193/article-SUU-athletic-programs-shouldn-t-go-anywhere?instance=most_popular1#ixzz3fPD0YyK3 Evidently, rumors are going around that SUU will drop from DI, an account of things their AD said before he left. SUU will not be staying in the top half of the Big Sky by going FBS, but will stay FCS, which is DII in most people's vernacular. Likely their old rival Dixie St will be in their same league in FCS soon, so people are confusing FCS and DII.

I would've thought they would move up and challenge the other 3 FBS teams in the state for recruits.

A WAC with SUU, Dixie St, Weber St, Utah Valley, Grand Canyon, Idaho St and NAU should have a lot of good rivals.
SiouxVolley
EWU is apparently getting bids for their Gateway stadium expansion. EWU's strategic plan lists their Gateway Project as a top priority, if they get private funding (and if they need it). Idaho's kickoff day from the Sun Belt is March 10th. The fireworks should start soon thereafter.
SiouxVolley
Strange that Idaho just scheduled a $1.4 mill guarantee game with LSU in 2020. That is well after Idaho will be pushed out of the Belt and into FCS, according to other posters. Why would LSU waste their time scheduling games that won't happen? Mont St President Waded is getting rid of AD Fields at the end of June. She supposedly wants more football improvements in the near term out of a new AD. This was a convenient time to sign a big FBS contract before signing day. Buyouts are usually significant if teams can't meet the terms. Idaho has signed multiple FBS at high payouts until 2022. Buyouts for Idaho could almost necessitate that they stay FBS. The Idaho President has been spouting off that they could go FCS to fake out the Sun Belt and get more money out of booster. All over AGS, CAA fans are repeating again and again that if FCS conferences could move FBS, the CAA would have done so long ago, and that MA and ODU would still be in the CAA. The NCAA will squelch any designs that the BSC has to move FBS. Having Idaho in your conference as the reason will draw belly laughter for FBS conferences.
