2013 Volleyball Season

The conference winner hosts the tournament the following year. N. Colorado won the conference last season so they are hosting the tourney this year.

I was hoping to hear UNC was hosting the tourney this year! I'm going to have to clear out my schedule and make sure I'm able to go up to the tourney. Should be some great volleyball!

Edit: Checking online, Portland State won the regular season last year so they will be hosting the postseason trouney. UNC won the postseason tournament last year.

For any first timers at the game today, I would say, as a volleyball regular, that it was an atypical performance and atmosphere. It was more of a chess match with all the tips and trick shots, instead of UND imposing their will. And the noon start time made for a more reserved crowd. Maybe it was just nervousness by the crowd with the result in question. I actually was hoping for a little bigger crowd considering the importance of the game. Anyway, the almost let a 2-0 start slip away, but this team, in contrast to a year ago, knows how to win. With the exception of some dynamite kills from #6, I didn't see anything that the defense couldn't handle.

My bad. I got those mixed up. It's too bad it isn't at UNC. We would likely have a good crowd there. And we will probably have to go through PSU in their own gym if we are going to win the tourney.

Would've liked to have been there but was hosting the GF Volleyball tailgate party for homecoming. Great to hear the ladies pulled it out. Sad that I'm at the football game and posting on siouxsports as iopposed to being into the game...although we are playing better than I anticipated.

Two road matches that are likely losses are NAU and PSU - the home court is quite an advantage. But this win likely means next year the Betty will host next years championships. But next year we lose Munnkeby and Parlich, so unless Thompson and Pioske continue to make improvements as outside hitters, we might not even make the tournament.

It will be tough going though Portland to make the dance.

Thought PSU would pay back UND's comeback from 0-2 at UNC.

I agree very much that you don't just replace a Munkeby or a Parlich but I don't think will be too bad next season. Our setter Husfeldt returns, along with our 2 defensive specialists in Clarke and Hart, add in outside hitters Robinson and Pioske. I think we have a good foundation. From what I saw of Moser early in the year...I was impressed...they tried her out wide but she's a middle, but who is she going to replace in the middle right now? Munkeby? Parlch? Of course not. Thompson is going to have to improve, but she has done so in recent games and hopefully will continue to do so. I'm excited about next year. I think we'll make the tournament.
