Siouxperfan7 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 So if you are driving back from Omaha today you will most likely be stuck somewhere along I29. If not, you should be. Interstate is closing in parts. Lots of Sioux fans here in the Holiday Inn Express in Brookings!! Where is everyone stranded?!! Quote
dmksioux Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Not stranded yet. Only up to Sioux City. Probably stay in Sioux Falls since hotel rooms may be scarce north of there. Quote

sprig Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Sounds like the team bus is at Sisseton, I29 now closed from Watertown north. Looks like road conditions continue to get worse all the way to GF, as the storm is now wrapping around and burying eastern ND. No return until tomorrow afternoon would be my guess. Quote

AZSIOUX Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Be safe and hope the bars along I29 are fully loaded with beer!! Quote
Wilbur Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Where are they going to practice in Sisseton? Quote
tkossan88 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Student fan bus has been stranded in summit, sd since 3:30, let us stay at the local gym and cooked us up some lunch! Opening up the local bar later this afternoon too! Thank god for good hearted, small town people!!!! 3 Quote
SiouxperDave Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 We just checked in at the Hampton Inn in Brookings. There are a lot of ND plates in the parking lot. Quote
SiouxperDave Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 The Applebee's in Brookings looks like the one in GF on game night. 2 Quote

Siouxman Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Pulled off at Sioux Falls, staying at the Comfort Inn for $70 (AARP rate). Lots of rooms still available and the desk clerk says he has had rowdy fans before. Also heard the AmericInn has a stranded motorist rate of $70. Talked to many people and checked road and weather conditions. Does not make sense to go beyond Sioux Falls. 1 Quote
Siouxperfan7 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 Do they have a bar? No bar, but they do have a waterslide!! Applebee's is right across the parking lot. Turning into the unofficial Sioux bar/ restaurant in Brookings!!! Quote

jodcon Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Just looked at the radar and the snow front is moving east to west, bassackwards. Those are the kind that hang around a while. Quote
jdub27 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Made it to Watertown. Only a few suites left at the Holiday Inn Express. Rooms available at some other places still. Quote
siouxforeverbaby Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Ouch, be safe everyone! Sounds like people are stuck in the twin cities as well trying to get back to Fargo Quote
geaux_sioux Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Ouch, be safe everyone! Sounds like people are stuck in the twin cities as well trying to get back to Fargo The cities have been getting pounded. I'm interested to see if the heavy stuff will actually make it to grand forks. Quote
j0nptw Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Roads get pretty bad north of Brookings, heading to Watertown. Drive safe. Quote
wsdSIOUXfalls Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 The heavy, wet snow is mostly North of here (Sioux Falls) Temps are now dropping below freezing, so roads from here North will be very slippery and blocked in places - and it will be dark before long.... so probably best to just find a place to stay and STOP NOW. When things open up, it won't make that much difference to be another hr or two North, just to risk getting stuck on the freeway or stuck in the last open town where there might not be rooms. Be safe everyone! Quote
Siouxhockey1978 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 who's raiding the the Buffalo Wild Wings Quote
Torpedo Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 In Watertown here. About to form a beer search party. Quote
wsdSIOUXfalls Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 www.safetravelusa.com/sd/ now shows the freeway is closed just North of halfway between Sioux Falls and Brookings.... where there is literally no place to stay! 4:45 PM edit : I-29 now closed from Sioux Falls to Fargo with no travel advised North of Fargo (also I-90 closed from Sioux Falls to the Black Hills) Quote
jdub27 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 In Watertown here. About to form a beer search party. I can confirm there is beer still available in Watertown, just got back from getting some provisions. Snow is getting heavier. 1 Quote
