The Dakota's, Montana's and Idaho's need to make their own FBS league.

those guys seem to like pocatello and greeley...been there done that

fenton needs to get 6 football schools together (fcs or fbs down the road) and gut punch the mvfc asshats...if the mvc loses one or a couple more "bigger" names they are poachable especially if fenton dangles a hockey slot to northern iowa (beating the hawkeyes to punch for d1 hockey in state...just like augie did in sodak with sdac and usd).....

The NDSU fans commenting telling him he’s wrong lol

Even if you can afford to move up and become a lower-level FBS program, the best you can hope for is a 7-4 record and a crappy Bowl game in mid-December on a weeknight with the stands half-full if you are lucky. The CFP is a long-shot. And even if you somehow qualified for that, you would run into upper-level FBS teams with way more depth and athleticism.

It's fool's gold.

Don’t the teams that make a bowl game have to purchase so many tickets whether their fans buy them or not ?

I agree with you about possibly playing for a lame bowl game at the end of the year is not as exciting as the playoffs in FCS.  The only problem is during the rest of the year.  The FCS already feels watered down and when fans get bored with the FCS schools we are playing year after year and stop coming to games is where you will have a problem.  Look at attendance at NDSU games.  Beating teams by large margins also gets boring.   If the other powerhouse FCS teams wouldnt have moved up it would make FCS alot more exciting.  Now I feel like the Dakotas and Montanas are just left on the sidelines.

If the Dakotas and Montanas want to move up, they'll have to do it together. Geography dictates this. This would give the Mon-Dak 6 some bargaining power. They could either form their own conference or secure a home in an existing conference looking to expand. This is the only way FBS will happen for the Mon-Dak 6.

Talking with the other g fbs schools warning them not to do it.

The Power 4 already gets a lion's share of revenues. At some point, greed will destroy the very things that made the revenues possible in the first place.

It's pretty clear that at this point only the B1G and the SEC actually matter, so not sure why any school would be looking to spend more at this point, as you'll never make it back.  Purely about ego.

Textbook example of a cartel.  If schools wanted to form a new conference they would have a slam dunk antitrust case imo.

It seems that the real question, then, is what do the University Presidents think? Especially as a group.

is it better to be a big fish in a smaller pond and qualify for FCS playoffs?

Or is it better to play on Tuesdays for national tv exposure and end up in a small-time week day bowl game?

Is it worth the money?

In the end, if the XDSUs and Montanas move up, UND better not get left behind again.

They used to. Now its negotiated. Thats a double edge sword also as these bowls are going to look for teams who fans travel well.

For a bowl game pretty good. If its a tues maction game pretty good to start. Then it would drop off.

When I channel surf regular season or bowl games if it’s g5 teams I very seldom will watch, unless it’s a western team like Boise

‘way too many bowl games with teams barely over 500 record for the year
