Kab Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Don’t the teams that make a bowl game have to purchase so many tickets whether their fans buy them or not ? 1 Quote

NewUndFan Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 I agree with you about possibly playing for a lame bowl game at the end of the year is not as exciting as the playoffs in FCS. The only problem is during the rest of the year. The FCS already feels watered down and when fans get bored with the FCS schools we are playing year after year and stop coming to games is where you will have a problem. Look at attendance at NDSU games. Beating teams by large margins also gets boring. If the other powerhouse FCS teams wouldnt have moved up it would make FCS alot more exciting. Now I feel like the Dakotas and Montanas are just left on the sidelines. Quote

This would give the Mon-Dak 6 some bargaining power. They could either form their own conference or secure a home in an existing conference looking to expand. This is the only way FBS will happen for the Mon-Dak 6. 1 Quote

Kab Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Talking with the other g fbs schools warning them not to do it. it has to do with revenue sharing Quote

At some point, greed will destroy the very things that made the revenues possible in the first place. Quote

nodakvindy Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 It's pretty clear that at this point only the B1G and the SEC actually matter, so not sure why any school would be looking to spend more at this point, as you'll never make it back. Purely about ego. 1 Quote

If schools wanted to form a new conference they would have a slam dunk antitrust case imo. Quote
zonadub Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 It seems that the real question, then, is what do the University Presidents think? Especially as a group. is it better to be a big fish in a smaller pond and qualify for FCS playoffs? Or is it better to play on Tuesdays for national tv exposure and end up in a small-time week day bowl game? Is it worth the money? In the end, if the XDSUs and Montanas move up, UND better not get left behind again. Quote

Kab Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 When I channel surf regular season or bowl games if it’s g5 teams I very seldom will watch, unless it’s a western team like Boise ‘way too many bowl games with teams barely over 500 record for the year Quote
nodakvindy Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Brett McMurphy reporting that NDSU may be a football only option for Mountain West. Since Summit doesn't have football i guess could be a possibility. I'm not sure i buy it. Program is obviously solid but doesn't bring a media market or more importantly a fertile recruiting are like a Texas school would. Will be interesting to see how PAC?? And MWC moves finally shake out. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted December 10, 2024 Author Posted December 10, 2024 UCD Oly sports go 2026. If FB targets 2026 they are "in transition" now ... Wonder if they announce after Davis is out of FCS playoffs. Quote
