This brings back some good memories - thanks for sharing! As a kid, I remember those District 29, 30, 31, 32 tournaments at Scott Gymnasium on the campus of Dickinson State. The place was packed and my ears would ring for hours when I was back home in my bed. Golva vs. New England St. Marys - good times. Quote

I used to attend basketball camps all the time with the Schmitz boys from Golva - Jeremy and Jason. You couldn't help but cheer for those guys. Quote

Siouxphan27 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Wasn't somebody the Flashers? A smaller class B out west I think? Mascots could get creative with that one. Quote

I think you mean the town of Flasher, which is the Bulldogs. The University of North Dakota Storm Kings...I like it. The problem is, you'd also need to be the University of North Dakota Storm Queens, so that nickname will never work. Quote
Siouxphan27 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 thanks Mafia....i knew it didn't sound quite right...lol. Anyway, I still like it. How about Potato Skins? or would that be too controversial? Quote
MafiaMan Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 thanks Mafia....i knew it didn't sound quite right...lol. Anyway, I still like it. How about Potato Skins? or would that be too controversial? I was in a food fight once and got hit in the eye with a potato...now I wear a glass eye. I would be traumatized by such a nickname...heck, I break out in a cold sweat just driving by the Simplot plant. It's a good suggestion, but I think it'll be shot down by the nickname committee. Also on the great nickname list: The Kenmare Honkers and the Bowbells Eskimos (who are now known as the Burke County Titans?). Quote
Siouxphan27 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 love the Honkers...... although some old white guys with poor hearing may misinterpret that one and cause another controversy. Quote
GoalieMask Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Many, many decades ago when Ayr, ND still had a school their were the Ayr Rifles. That's class. Hebron Brickmakers was also one that gets some props. Of course, when they had a woeful night shooting from the perimeter they were the "bricklayers" to opposing fans. Quote
