I don't think that's offensive I didn't mean to pick on you because I like your posts and you provide a lot of good information regarding recruits. Generally, I don't like negative posts directed at recruits or even current players in a public forum. I would hate to see any recruit decommit based upon what they or their family reads on a message board and I fear that could happen. Quote

When I say "light it up', I generally mean over point per game type of production, especially as a younger aged player. Pilgrim can certainly be a solid contributor (as Josephson is right now), but his junior production as an 18 & 19 year old doesn't suggest that he'll be a dominant, light it up, NCAA producer. That is more of my point. Quote

beastandco Posted Thursday at 06:17 PM Posted Thursday at 06:17 PM If the roster limits are raised next year, this could make the “who comes in next year” conversation easier. Going from 26 to 28/29 would create a lot more flexibility this offseason. Seems like a no brainer for the NCAA to make the change as well. 1 Quote

First, these kids and their families read these message boards. Second, and more importantly, you have no idea because his scoring may be based upon team philosophy, the players around him, whether he plays top 6 and specialty teams, etc. Chris Vandevelde played 2 years in the USHL. His first season he scored 5 points in 7 games. His second year, he scored 36 points in 56 games. After a slow freshman year adapting to college, Chris put up 32 points his sophomore year, 35 points his junior year, and 41 points his senior year. He was also an assistant captain and one of the best young men I have ever met to play at UND. How do you know Pilgrim will not be Chris Vandevelde? How about trusting the coaching staff rather than cherry picking stats? Pilgrim leads his team in scoring and has missed a 1/4 of the season. It really comes down to what skills transfer from Juniors to college. Some guys find the skills that separated them in Juniors no longer happens in college(Cichy) and some guys just keep doing what they do. Would not surprise me in Pilgrim puts up .75-1.0 a game from his Sophomore to Senior seasons at UND. 2 2 Quote

Wonder if the limit increase could lead to more transfer portal activity since you might have guys on the roster who see little to no playing time. We’ve seen that not everyone would find a new home though. Quote

But who knows if Ashton is being held back being on a team that doesn’t score a lot, and we’ve seen circumstances can make quite a difference. Quote

Chris Vandevelde was a very good college player and a prolific scorer for UND despite the fact that he only had 16 goals and 20 assists (36 points) his second year in the USHL in 56 games. That is much less than a point per game. Grant Slukynsky is another example of a late bloomer that blossomed at WMU. Pilgrim was a prolific scorer in high school, and there is no reason to believe he can't be at UND. At the very least, give him and the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt on this one. UND did not recruit Jason Shaugabay, and how did that one turn out? 3 Quote

brianvf Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago PuckPreps article on Thoreson: https://puckpreps.com/beck-thoreson-commits-to-north-dakota/ Laurila played a part in the recruiting and Thoreson compares his game to a mix of Sanderson and Kleven. Quote Thoreson came away impressed with the coaching staff and the direction of the program. He noted the staff’s work rebuilding the team and how thorough the experience felt, from touring the facilities to speaking with players. While he had attended UND games in the past, seeing the behind-the-scenes operation left a lasting impression. “They have the best facilities in college hockey there,” he said. “It’s a dream. It should be a dream for everybody to at least look at the facilities they have. It’s nuts.” Quote In terms of development, Thoreson knows what the next steps look like. He has good size for a 16-year-old, but he understands that he needs to fill out as he continues to grow. Thoreson remains flexible about his timeline. Whether he enters North Dakota in Fall 2027 or 2028 will largely depend on his development with the NTDP. “I could see myself going in after these two years, but I could also see myself playing a year of juniors,” he said. “I think most of it depends on next year.” Quote
