He didn't have the best performance at the WJC this year. Seemed to be not squaring up 100% correctly to shooters at times when he gave up his goals. Granted that seems like something that could be corrected with practice.

His numbers have been basically the same for 4 years. Hobie had roughly the same GAA but a better SV% and he didn’t turn out at all. Wait to see how he does when he gets here.
 

I feel the next goalie commit will be from the WHL.

Similar numbers to Adam Gajan and he is going to be playing in the Olympics.  Not saying he will or won’t be good at the collegiate level, but as we have seen with judging guys solely by numbers, there are a lot of outliers and different development paths.  
 

I would be more worried if the coaches are having concerns, because they are evaluating the play of all of our prospects, but I trust they will do what is best for the program.  Don’t want to move on from someone like we did with Stephen Halliday and then regret it.

I don't think it's fair to compare him to Hobie's stats.  Not saying he'll turn out to be a gem, but they're different people and different players.  I also don't think Hobie was given that fair of a shake at UND with the portal goalie favoritism that occurred. Weird dynamic and who knows how that contributed to the mental aspect of things.  I'm more curious about how Heil coming in as a Fr when Spunar is a So could affect things, especially if Spunar continues to play well.  Could Heil get itchy and transfer?

I hope Heil can come in and push Spunar to be even better.

Spunar said he was going to go pro before UND recruited him. Can't imagine we get him for 4 years.

In this era, you hope you get 2 years from your players, can't guarantee anything more than that now. 1 & done would suck, but if you make a deep run, you live with the trade off.

Karl was a full time assistant from 2019-2025. Name one incoming freshman goalie that he recruited during that time who left UND significantly better than when they arrived.

Well he had played in the WHL so college puck wasn't an option for him before the rule change. Other schools recruited him too.

Like Zellers last season, Simpson is being seriously underrated across the country as a future NCAA player. Should be great very quickly once he gets on campus

Was expecting a little more offensive production from Grubb, but I think every level of hockey is more competitive with so many development paths available.

Yeah I think he could develop into an excellent college hockey player.
Seems like he's rounding out his game a bit too...still such a great shooter, but now picking up more assists than previous seasons.

I was surprised by that too, especially since he seemed to start the season pretty decently.
Looking at the SSM 18U stats, everyone above him in points (except for Sung) is 1-2 years older than him, which bodes well for future seasons if he starts getting more playing time and better offensive opportunities. 
Haven't seen a recent line chart for them to see who he's getting paired with, but I'm assuming that he's playing a bottom 6 role currently.
