fourwindsboy Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 So FWB tell me how this change has impacted your life? Do you feel more respected? Do you feel like you got one up on "the man"? Just curious. You have waited so long for this and now the time has come you must be profoundly changed. UND no longer has a proud sioux mascot and I am sure this makes your life so much better. Let's see, yes, yes and hell yes!! Quote
fourwindsboy Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 do u realize that a lot of grand forks people will quit going to ur casino now which will in fact nto have as much money to give out anymore? this is going to hurt more then you think bud. I could give a rats a$$ if you come to the casino or not. I have a Masters Degree, my wife and I have darn good jobs and I rely on the casino for nothing! Thanks for asking though. Quote

tho0505 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 i tell you i feel worse then i did when we lost to yale this year after hearing the news. its a joke really. that we couldnt just wait until the deadline, we would have had a vote and gotten support from the tribe. and if we didnt, oh well at LEAST THEIR VOICE WAS HEARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it kills me that politics need to get involved, instead of letting the majority rule and the democratic process see itself through. sad day indead, frustrating, and i feel cheated by the state of North Dakota and also by President Kelley. 'A new set of challenges' Kelley said the board's action today was not a surprise. "It is a matter now of managing a transition," he said. "I am happy to have a new set of problems to solve," he said. Are you happy? Congrats you now get to add another "accomplishment" on your resume. "Its just a matter of transition now". "Deal with it Sioux fans," who cares that the name gave us pride to be from North Dakota. What joke. I laugh when I think a conservative state like ND, would bend so easily when it comes to tradition and pride of American Indian culture. Here in Washington state there are so many high schools with Indian names and they dont think anything of it. They support it because it keeps the legacy alive for them. Quote

7>4 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Can you imagine how loud the "LET'S GO SIOUX" chant is going to be next year. Regardless of what the SBOE did, the Ralph will stay the same because UND will not come up with the cash to remove the logo's and the Ralph sure as hell isn't going to flip the bill. I am a strong believer in no new nickname. We are North Dakota!!!!! Nuff said. Quote
LeftyZL Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 HAHAHAHAHA!!! Sticks and Stones, baby!! Whats truly amazing is that if you actually have a master's degree, you act like this. I assumed you were a 16 year old reading your posts. Quote
choyt3 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 From http://www.twitter.com/schlossmangf UND will hold a press conference at 9 a.m. with Hakstol, Mussman, Jones and Roebuck in attendance. Idalski is out recruiting. Wish he was around because he gets it, too, and wouldn't hesitate to tell it like he sees it. Quote

I hope you use your good fortune to go and improve the lives of those on the reservations that are not so lucky. Changing the name by itself will do nothing to stop the poverty, unemployment, and other issues facing native americans. What's the next step now that there are no more signs to hold or marches to organize? Quote

gfhockey Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Ill tell u one thing, the indians wont be getting the free dish and the masters degrees handed to them at UND anymore! Quote
The Walrus Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 HAHAHAHAHA!!! Sticks and Stones, baby!! Kind of Ironic... Sticks and Stones will break my Bones, but NAMES will never hurt you....? Go SIOUX! Quote
Siouxfull Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 YYYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS!!! What did I tell you from the beginning? What you gotta say now?? Ahh, a good day, indeed. You'all take care now. [/quot You are so dumb. Go live your life and find some thing else to make yourself feel better. No matter what you think your people had nothing to do with this. Just a few bitter losers. Yep call me what you want but this is so stupid. Waste of time and money. This university will live on and I am sure you will find a new reason your life sucks because of what other people do. Quote

That great fight song will resurface big time. If a name, I am still partial to "The Mighty Soo" in honor of the great Soo Line Railway. Now wouldn't that frost some people's hind ends? Let's Go Soo!! Big train horn that throws the chill into anyone who has ever been hit by a locomotive. Big steaming locomotive as the logo. Maybe with a face like an angry Thomas the Tank. It all works. It has probably been suggested before. Quote

UND1983 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 The worst thing people can do is pull their money because of this. I know its a tough time and will be for awhile but hopefully over the summer their will be some soothing time and people will be ready to support athletics no matter what the name come Fall and Football Season. By pulling your money you are only hurting the programs you support. Lets face it, the name has been on borrowed time for years and it was inevitable. Also, don't use the 'wanting to get into the Summit League' for this action. The name was doomed regardless. There is no way you can keep fighting something every 10 years and avoid impending doom. But, after all that, we are still THE University of North Dakota. Quote
NorthDakotaHockey Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Truly a sad day indeed. Stunningly sad. For some many reasons, and for so many people. I am sure that a great weight has suddenly been lifted from the land. I really doubt it. The Great Sioux Chiefs, and the spirits of the brave and noble people who once lived these lands in pride, must be dumbstruck. Just like fourwinds boy is now. FWB, what, pray tell, have you done to advance your "cause" beyond your cheerleading against a name and a logo that did you no harm? Quote
