Sioux_Hab-it Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I guess they were worried about how the rug would look when they switch to HD. Quote
choyt3 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 The alcohol bill must have been getting out of hand. I kid, I kid. LaPanta? FSN must have thought Frank wasn't "homer" enough. Quote
MoreSiouxForYou Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I just rewatched the F5 champ game yesterday and I was wondering with the tone of the third period if they already knew. Comments like "Ill be talking to you long into the summer months Muzzy." and "this has been a longer season than most for us" I thought just may have been towards a rough season but maybe just all together them being done. An institution but Woog was starting to lose it mentally during longer games. Good guys and Lots of memories growing up for me there. Thanks to them Both. Quote
nhlBoundSioux Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Lapanta will now be the voice... Makes this picture so much sweeter! Quote
hrkac Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I've always liked Lapanta. Clay Matvick has also been good. especially, his call on the Porter wrap-around goal! Maybe this change will bring some levity to the delusional Gopher fan base. Then again... probably not. Quote
Snake Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Just keep Gorg as far away from the booth as possible. Quote
gfhockey Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I just hope we dont get gorg in there. down right awful i still can remember him yelling "boys the chips are all on the table. finley wants to dance with bickel and genwaoy has challenged fairchild" of course the sioux are doin all the trash talkin Quote
FIRE HELMET GUY #26 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I can't believe they went with LaPanta....he is HORRIBLE! Guess I'll just have to mute the games next season when watching. Quote
gfhockey Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I agree.. Lapanta should stick with high school hockey As much as we sioux fans hated him, he wasnt that bad when the gophers werent playing We want FSSN in HD!! Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Lapanta will now be the voice... Makes this picture so much sweeter! Ha! I saw you guys doing that, last year at Final Five, right? Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 How about Ryan Cardinal for the color man? I suppose they want a former gopher player or coach. Quote
nhlBoundSioux Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Ha! I saw you guys doing that, last year at Final Five, right? Yes - Last year at the final five... Good times. This year we wanted to ask Tom Reid, but weren't wearing our jersey's when we saw him. Quote
fargosioux Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I just updated my signature today with Mazzocco's quote after the Final Five championship. Maybe that was the final straw! Quote
nodak hockey fanatic Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 i've actually talked about this with some people in the last year about how wooger has lost all objectivity. he used to be a great announcer, but he has lost that, and being completely serious, i worry it may be more than just goofer homerism like mazsucko. mazsucko has always, well, sucked. he's a complete homer, and thats ok, he is what he is, that was his part of the doug and rug show. wooger usually kept him in line, and obviously brings alot of hockey knowledge with him too, and even though he also is a huge goof homer, which he has the right to be, he brought some integrety to the broadcast. has anyone else noticed the blank stares wooger gets? or how he is at a complete loss for words or thoughts once in a while? and i think it has a direct impact on his downward spiral as a legitimate broadcaster. it's too bad, because college hockey will take all the good it can get, even in goof land. i am not a neurological expert, this is all just my take on the situation... i hope i am wrong and we are not reading about wooger battling dementia or alzheimer's in a couple of years, i really hope it is just his deep hatred of the sioux taking over Quote
Goon Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Ha! I saw you guys doing that, last year at Final Five, right? Probably won't have time with his job with the Vikings. Quote
JESUS,family, rutgers Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I can't believe the difference between the telecasts on FSSN and the Minnesota crew on Fox. Keep up the good work Pat Sweeney,Jim Scanlon,Mrs. Sioux Me Now, and FSSN staff! Quote
The Whistler Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 So are they thinking that the sucky rating are because of Doug and the Rug? (Or just giving it to more versatile employees.) I blame inconsistent scheduling and a poor product on ice if their ratings are down. Quote
mikejm Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I can't believe all the positive comments regarding Frank and Doug on StarTrib! Quote
siouxforeverbaby Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I can't believe all the positive comments regarding Frank and Doug on StarTrib! i was reading those earlier....great entertainment for me! Quote
Big A HG Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 As much as I hate the Gophers, I never once minded listening to Doug and the Rug. Whenever you heard their voices, you knew it was something college hockey. And, as much as they were homers, they weren't afraid to dish out a little respect where it was earned. Quote

And, as much as they were homers, they weren't afraid to dish out a little respect where it was earned. they were fun. doug was really stumbling words and going off into woogland more and more the last 2 years so hope he is ok physically. lapanta will need some time to be good as hes ok and please NO gorg. keep him in the studio if need be and not in the press box calling games. i enjoyed them and hope frank lands somewhere if he wants to stay in the game Quote
