I redesigned the original shirt with a couple things. I borrowed most of the design though cause I suck at stuff like this.I didn't mean to make it sound like I did all the work myself, but that is what it sounds like from my original post. Lansky was very tight with Charles Luciano. Your sources repeated the same old myths. Check my links out for accuracy. Capeci has written numerous books on LCN and a weekly article. Sorry, I'm not prepared to totally believe your guy without a great deal of research. He may be right (which would make many others wrong). Or he may be interpreting facts and situations in a different way. I read several books on the topic when I was younger and all point to some form of organization that was used to police the mob. They didn't call themselves Murder, Inc., that was a media nametag. And they didn't just sit around waiting for assignments. They were also involved in other illegal activities from gambling to prostitution to rum running, etc. Some even had cover jobs with "legit" companies. But I have a hard time just dismissing the entire history of testimony and convictions from the late 30s and early 40s. It seems pretty obvious that several people were involved in multiple killings over that period. This site contains some reputed FBI files on the subject. Ben "Bugsy" Siegel and Meyer Lansky were friends, as were Lansky and Salvatore Lucania who was better known as Charlie "Lucky" Luciano. Several other sources talk about murder for hire being part of the Seigel-Lansky organization for many years before the start of Murder Inc. Seigel was kind of a loose cannon, which is probably at least part of why he ended up on the West Coast. When Seigel was trying to open the Mob's first casino resort in Las Vegas, the Flamingo, it was his friend Meyer Lansky that held off unhappy "investors" for quite a while. They weren't happy that he was so far over budget and that the casino did not make a lot of money for them right away (it actually lost money for a couple of months). To say something is stupid with little more to back it up is stupid. Everyone has made up and we are now moving on. As for putting siouxsports.com somehwere on the shirt, I see little reason to be a walking sandwich board for someone else's money making ventures. If siouxsports.com is to get free ad space, then siouxsports.com should chip in on the overall cost to whittle down final price. Jim is no doubt a great guy and this board can be a fine source for information, but his is a business and businesses should pay for ad holes, just like the businesses on this board pay for ad holes. Why not advertise Goon's blog, Brad's blog, AZSioux's website, LFSPRO's site, and everyone else's blogs and sites while we are at it? Those who are taking the lead on this project are doing a fine job, and should just finalize a design by themselves rather than by committee, post it for buying interest, and be done. Once hockey starts again this afternoon, this idea could well find itself in the dumpground of ideas unless it is taken to the final design and order stage right quick. You are right that they were involved in numerous other rackets and by saying Murder Inc. was a media and prosecutors name is why I said Murder Inc. was a myth. They could not whack anyone until they made sure they did not step on the wrong toes and get themselves killed. So simply by what you just said proved what I said. Every time you view a page, that's money out of my pocket; when the site doubles in popularity, I'm happy for the service I'm able to provide the Sioux community, but it also costs me twice as much. I've seen few other such sites, even a fraction of the size, that didn't require membership fees or donations to survive. The moderators, bloggers, contributors, and photographers are also all volunteers who donate their time and efforts to help make this a better community and source of Sioux information. We've thought a central source of information and community for people interested in the Sioux worthwhile enough that we've been willing to devote considerable personal resources to providing such to Sioux fans for over a decade. NDH, member #559, joined in March '03. I would think you've been around long enough to know Jim is providing a great service to the fighting Sioux community without asking for anything from us. This site has come along way since I first found it on the starting of the message board phenom. To just find any info on the Sioux was a major pain, but Jim was at the forefront of getting this started. This site has provided me with insights & info I never would have know. It also provided me with a sounding board for things I wanted to say about the team & things I probably shouldn't have said. I don't post much anymore, but I am an avid fan that gets a great amount of entertainment from this site. Too many posters here take for granted the great site that Jim has provided to us. nodak hockey fanatic Posted February 24, 2008 Share Posted February 24, 2008 i second your sentements speez. i have only been on here for a little over a year, but get great enjoyment posting and reading about the sioux. thank you for all you do jim. the only reason i put the siouxsports logo on the design because, as jim stated, i think alot of us here feel like part of a community. if jim does not want the logo on the shirt, i understand, that is fine, but if he gives it the thumbs up, i don't think there will be any opposition from the people here on ss.com. someone had mentioned putting the ss.com logo on the sleeve. i like the idea, anyone know how. is diggler still in charge of finalizing the design and ordering? is there still interest from people? im still in for 2 or 3 if we do it. My apologies Jim, and to any and all whom I offended with my remarks. This is a fine site, and it no doubt requires a great deal of maintenance work. I guess I should have left my remarks by simply stating that I was not for adding a siouxsports.com label on any product. I am just one who is not, and who never has been, big on walking around with a dot.com t-shirt of any sort. This said, I will, of course, gladly buy any tastefully and cleverly designed shirts that have siouxsports.com emblazoned on them if that is the call. I will also reverse course and suggest that it is probably fair that Jim get a buck or two from every shirt that is sold. As I have done in the past, and will do so again in the future, thanks Jim and others who contribute here for all of your time, energy, talent, and resources that go into this board.
