UND Athletics, Hornbacher's introduce new relationship
SiouxVolley replied to nodak651's topic in Community
SuperValu did a 7:1 reverse split last year, meaning shareholders have taken a massive bath. They have sold Albertsons, Oslo, Jewel and many other chains, but they still are distributors for IGA stores and their own chains. The supermarket industry is absolutely brutal if your not in line with the consumer, which now generally means prepared foods and organics. If they want to stay in business, they have to retrench to markets that are most susceptible to them. Hugo’s is small feed. -

Supervalu probably wants to build a second Hornbachers store in GF. A Ray Richard’s location would be an ideal spot. The Hugo’s locations seem to vary so much. The 32nd St store is much higher end. The North End one is bad. Hugo’s has stores in Crookston, Grafton, Thief River, Jamestown, and Park Rapids and they don’t have nearly as much competition so they don’t spend money upgrading them. -

Hornbachers has so much more money and corporate support backing it. Supervalu also owns Cubs Foods in MSP, and leading chains in the St Louis and the DC regions. Most of them have a battle royale against Kroger, Walmart, Target and other chains. Kroger stores can go up against Whole Foods at usually less than Hugo’s prices. Hugo’s mostly just has WalMart as competition, but Hornbachers seems to be upping its games in GF. Could be the reason that Hugo’s has not completed its South Washington expansion. -

Hornbacher’s is not locally Fargo owned, as it was bought out more than forty years ago.. SuperValu in Eden Prairie owns it along with tons of other local chains, most of which keep their original names. Supervalu has much more capacity to sponsor and advertise than Hugo’s, which is still locally owned. -
When Pryor signed the Finnish National Jr Team setter and Vetter at Setter from Fargo Shanley the same day, figured the existing setters did not cut the mustard. The recruit from Kasson-Mantorville can also set, but she’s not coming until next year.

The Ottawa Senators might be bought and moved. The owner is in a lot of debt and wants a new arena downtown. Quebec City or Southern Ontario could be landing spots. The offer price was much lower than what Seattle will cost in expansion. http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/melnyk-has-engaged-in-talks-to-sell-sens-report?video_autoplay=true

Uruguay’s and Russia’s group were universally condemned as the weakest, but they both advance over what some said were the strongest group, with Spain and Portugal. Uruguay is a strong squad but not flashy. They will be hard to eliminate. Croatia was a little lucky to survive and they should be big favorites over Russia.

The Engelstad’s haven’t forgot about Greater Grand Forks. They just gave $2.5 mill to a Sacred Heart addition. -
The World Cup may have given NDSU an ideas how to expand and bastardize the FargoDome. Just use Ekatarinburg’s idea of building massive external stands on the outside of the FargoDome by tearing out a high wall, there by creating new seats. A rolling glass wall can be installed to still keep the FargoDome indoors for their winter tractor shows. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4947998/World-Cup-venue-Ekaterinburg-Arena-odd-new-stands.html

After the Ralph was operational, then women’s hockey was started. That additional cost might have been known when the 52% was agreed upon. So it would not have been the Betty to be paid for. Getting rid of a $2million annual liability changes things. $2 mill annual payments is much more than the Betty’s cost. Makes sense that Kennedy wanted the agreement altered. -

Character of the region is to fear change, even positive. Kennedy embodies change and he is not afraid of it if it has a strategic goal.- 485 replies

Croatia, Belgium and Uruguay are the only perfect qualifying teams. The World Cup winner normally has a head of steam and a little luck. Those three nations fit the bill. Asia qualified 1 of 5 nations, and Japan didn’t exactly blow games out. Africa qualified 0 of 5 nations, with Senegal having more yellow cards than Japan, so they got the spot. North America got 1 out of three to advance. South America advances 4 out to 5, no surprise there.

Krabbenhoft is still talking DI for Augie, this time for donations from Bill Gates. Bill Gates has some pull with North Dakota politicians like the Governor and Fargo/NDSU types.. http://kstp.com/business/some-boosters-want-south-dakotas-augustana-on-bigger-stage-/4962254/ He already missed the June 1st deadline for moving up to begin an exploratory year.

My mistake as AlphaGriz doensnt own Egriz, but rather MaroonBlood. He’s been known to tailgate with many rights and privileges granted by the Herd tur*s down south. Who they hang with tells a lot about their character.

The spat between a female Missourian journalist and the owner of Egriz took another turn this week, as the owner of Egriz can’t post for a year. Can we get a judge to rule against LakesBison and the myriad of bizon trolls here? Those cease and desist rulings can be powerful. https://missoulian.com/news/local/missoula-judge-bans-griz-forum-owner-from-posting-about-woman/article_e6dcfdca-fdb0-5a1d-9067-31f24a200df5.html

So is the Ralph going to digital tickets? The NFL, NBA, and NHL are all going toward digital tickets. Though they will provide paper tickets to fans who want some memorabilia, but it’s an extra hassle. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2018/06/18/nfl-stadiums-ticketmaster-fully-digital-ticket-systems-2018-season/

Kennedy vs. Engelstad Foundation: GF herald feature
SiouxVolley replied to jdub27's topic in Community
It continues to show according to some posters how Fargo and NDSU centric the Engelstad Foundation now is. Without those gifts, the Scheels Arena would never have hosted NDSU basketball for their year when the BSA was being remodeled. NDSU would have been forced to play at the Fargo Civic or Fargo North. The state hockey tournament was played there too, taking away again from Grand Forks. But maybe the Fargo Force is more important to train hockey fans and players than NDSU winter sports are. -

$8.5 million to Scheels Arena to keep it open. How does that benefit NDSU? UND gets real benefits from it as it a arena that can bid on regionals. -
A new rules also allows a player that is talking transfer to have his scholarship yanked for the next term. If they don’t have a place to go, they could be way out of luck.

This World Cup has been historic. Most consecutive games without a scoreless tie.

The Calgary owners are just threatening to move to blackmail the city of Calgary to build a new arena. A 19k seat arena, renovated several times for more suite and loge seats, built for the Flames and the Olympics just doesn’t cut it anymore. Cities are tiring of these kind of threats. Teams can build their own new arenas on their own dime.

According to this, South Alabama and Minnesota may offer Tyreke Locure. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/high-school/recruiting/2018/06/18/des-moines-iowa-north-high-tyreke-locure-official-visit-south-alabama-july-georgia-tech-minnesota/710474002/ Locure was originally from New Orleans.
