Kennedy vs. Engelstad Foundation: GF herald feature

Notre Dame doesn’t get any of that money, but some of its home games are televised by the NBC Sports Network , which pays the Irish. Presume ND finds that much more lucrative than ND-Merrimack or ND-UMassLowell were in Hockey East. UND would need the same kind of deal with Fox MSP or some other broadcaster. The Big Ten will not share any of its TV income with affiliates, including Johns Hopkins. -
Now, some students and parents insist they won’t live in a tiny dorm rooms and actually have to interact with humans their own age, so they rent luxury apartments off campus. Dakota Hall was a tax write off gift by Happy Harry’s that would have been demolished 40 yrs ago. The land is the value of that gift.

Anything planned for that location or will it be faculty parking?

Jacobs got the GFH so it basically a reprint of Washington Post fake news and sounds as if is local. Jacobs loved and protected Kelly. -
China and India should emerge soon, as they both have new super leagues that are gaining in audiences and $. Don’t think either has qualified ever.

Maybe the bang up business that Beulah’s urea plant did this spring opened some investors eyes. Still seems like a high mountain to climb.

Rather curious about NHL domain names being assigned to Portland. Paul Allen owns Portland’s arena, but the expansion price is too high for what he is willing to pay. Maybe Arizona or Calgary (wanting a new arena) move. http://news.sportslogos.net/2018/06/19/series-of-portland-nhl-domains-registered-by-winterhawks/

Russia just assured themselves of another round. Beating the Saudis and Egypt 8-1 combined still doesn’t say much of them.

IPFW is rebranding it’s name to PU-FW by July 1st and it’s Mastondon logo to blue with Purdue’s black and gold. Their rebranding will be complete when they get into the Horizon League, as they are moving into a new downtown Fort Wayne arena. The Fort Wayne President will accept an offer from the Horizon in one second and the Summit will be endangered again if it doesn’t get a school with baseball right away. http://www.wane.com/sports/purdue-fort-wayne-sticks-with-mastodons-in-athletics-branding/1247217621

That’s what bi-zon fans say about hockey.

Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Serbia, and Croatia could be candidates to make great runs. A small Euro nation always seems to do that. Iceland has great organizational midfield and defense to do that, but their strikers are lacking.

Suspect England will do better this year as no one, including the British press, expects them to do anything. They can’t seem to handle press pressure of expectations. European World Cups have been a graveyard for South American nations, and Italy, Germany, Portugal and Spain are not playing at home. Italy got knocked out in the Euro knockout qualification round be Sweden, so the Swedes might be another surprise.

Morocco totally blew their game against Iran with an own goal header. And Iran leads their group now over Spain and Portugal, which has to be even more shocking than Germany losing and Argentina and Brazil tieing their matches. Iran is rated the lowest team except Russia, who gets home advantage and hasn’t play in qualifying because they got a get in free card.

Perhaps CJ Siegel can be a walkon in mbb. He was a star in a Wisconsin HS all star game. https://lacrossetribune.com/sports/local/preps/la-crosse-area-roundup-la-crosse-logan-s-cj-siegel/article_b75c9fcc-77c3-535e-b7e8-14ca262a7935.html

Not exactly know where to put this, but Major Junior hockey has been reneging on college tuition payment. The NCAA looks good in comparison. It’s a war for recruits between NCAA teams and Major Junior ones. The NCAA is looking better all the time. https://www.tsn.ca/fight-intensifies-over-player-compensation-in-canada-s-major-junior-hockey-leagues-1.1106192

Vegas is also planning on bidding for future Frozen Fours, Final Fours, and Super Bowls. https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/tourism/group-focuses-on-bringing-super-bowl-final-four-to-las-vegas/

Girls hockey has seen the most growth in NHL states, where they still aren’t producing DI talent. Minnesota and ND growth has been rather flat. Most girl start hockey to learn to skate, but the numbers that switch to figure skating and synchronized skating is rather alarming. That just doesn’t happen with boys, as long as a SJW isn’t coach.

Fitch and Rogers had much higher competition: 2/3rds of the then NCC is DI now and much of the OOC games are too. Southern Illinois, Ark St, and Louisiana Tech were the teams that stopped their NCAA runs. Gunthers teams were stopped by Tenn-Chattanooga and Old Dominion. Both those coaches also had to handle always tough Northern Iowa during the conference. Gunther failed to keep up with the times so after an amazing string of success followed by some mediocre years he was let go. DII was like an NAIA league in the later days of Glas, who had much lower competition, like SCSU and Duluth as well as Augie and Morningside. Only the other Dakotas and Omaha were much for competition for Glas and the rest are still DII. But I fault Jones for not rallying the alumni more to basketball. He is just a poor PR ambassador for it. At least Glas brought that, but without the now Creighton and UNI coaches as assistants, doubt his winning % and recruiting would have been as good. When they left, Glas seemed to get worse.

Maybe EGF can start it, and GF boosters can help pay for it. Lax needs a HS league to flourish. Here’s a Star article about boys HS VB. http://www.startribune.com/boys-volleyball-gets-a-foothold-among-minnesota-high-schools/479934373/ Girls volleyball now has the most HS participants of any girls sport in MN. Also, for the most part, colleges need men’s volleyball for their women’s team to be champions, as the two seem to go hand in hand. The HS boys aren’t sponsored the the MN HS league yet, but by a regional volleyball association. Have long thought Men’s volleyball would be a actual crowd pleaser at UND, and it doesn’t take many scholarships, but more local players are needed.

The new CCHA wouldn’t have two Alaska schools or DII Minnesota schools. Always imagined that Spokane and Boise would make great college hockey cities. EWU is moving the the PAC8 ACHA DII conference. Boise St is already there. EWU is merging their two club teams that played in the BCIHL and the NorPac and is stepping up. Don’t know where they would get money to go varsity though. Boise is probably more promising. https://easterneronline.com/42923/sports/ewu-hockey-moves-to-new-conference/

Well, it was written by an AP writer in Fargo who probably thought that UND women’s sports were as hugely unpopular as NDSU’s. All NDSU women’s sports have been outdrawn by UND WIH. The NDSU women’s bb program is a pathetic shell of its former DII glory.

And UTRGV has not revealed their football study results either, in spite of Mack Brown saying that the result will be FBS.

Looks like three more bowls will be added in 2020: one at Wrigley Field, one at Myrtle Beach, and one at Charleston, SC. https://mobile.twitter.com/brett_mcmurphy/status/1006185245945880577?s=21

It would be nice if East Grand Forks sponsored a team, and the GF HSs co-oped with them.
