The hockey part makes sense as they could get in the WCHA, but the big Auggie boosters are not hockey fans. Don’t think they’ll get accepted into the Summit though.
-
You and Kolpack. But Augie would have to start men’s soccer to keep the Summit sports sponsored, figure out what to do with football, the Summit would have to be vulnerable for five plus years as PUFW and ORU could decide to leave, and Augie must almost double their budget. And all the time SDSU and USD will probably get poorer because they’d lose corporate sponsors.

UW-EC would need to move to DII to go DI in hockey or forgo scholarships. Union and RIT are still DIII in other sports, but can’t give scholarships according to DIII rules. Colorado College (St Lawrence is another) is DIII, but they got grandfathered in so scholarships are acceptable there for men’s hockey and women’s soccer. Ivy League schools don’t give athletic scholarships, but do give much financial aid and academic scholarships. A DIII school going DI in hockey presents challenges that most DI hockey schools don’t have to deal with. Looks like Eau Claire wants an attached convention center and hotel to the arena, so there will be be taxes associated with the convention center. Don’t know how the vote ended up. https://volumeone.org/news/1/posts/2018/02/08/19149_eau_claire_voters_would_decide_if_possible_hotel The WCHA would take a prospective UWEC team if it gets another add at the same time. Green Bay and Milwaukee seem to scream DI hockey, but they don’t have anywhere to go and they wouldn’t go WCHA.

FBS required a conference invite, even then. The MWC wasn’t gonna give them invites, nor was the SunBelt. Montana St made a major stadium investment at that time, which would have made them have an FBS stadium, but it got them in high debt. FBS isn’t something you wade in without substantial finances, but a DU blogger said they both had WAC interest until the last minute in Denver when UTSA and Texas St were announce as WAC FBS partners and UT Arlington was announced as a non football WAC member, as they knew there would be better partners geographically if they waited patiently.
-
Former WAC commish Karl Benson says if Montana and Montana St had followed through on their pledge to move to the WAC, UCDavis and Cal Poly would have followed. Fresno St and Nevada broke a pledge to stay, and that caused change. It’s a fallacy to ever say the Montanas never had FBS interest. http://www.forgotten5.com/2018/07/29/that-time-the-western-athletic-conference-almost-came-back-to-life/

UND Athletics, Hornbacher's introduce new relationship
SiouxVolley replied to nodak651's topic in Community
United Natural Foods (UNFI) took over SuperValu for $2.9 billion. UNFI will sell off all SuperValu’s retail markets, as it wants SuperValu’s distribution capability. Someone else will be buying Hornbachers and Cub Foods in the Twin Cities. They might not even change names. -
More history than Wichita State’s and UND’s. http://www.augie.edu/history-augustana-band

Kolpack is all aboard the Augustana going DI Summit track now, after the Summit laid an egg with the basketball schedules: http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/basketball/4478725-kolpack-all-vital-signs-pointing-augustana-joining-summit-league

How about this: Dear Colonel Block: I regret to inform you that an Air Force Academy athletic employee has a feces fetish on a sports poster board. Surely you feel that is quite unbecoming of an AFA staffer. Here are examples of his sick behavior: link.

Never met a military officer that didn’t publicly take a very strong stand on ethics. I’ll mention that in my letter too. She can always use some examples of action.

OH Amelia Johnson of Roseau has transferred to Liberty https://volleymob.com/former-north-dakota-oh-amelia-johnson-transfers-to-liberty/

Only the women’s game is now showing on the Penn St website. The men are in Cancun now without UND. Maybe I skimmed a news release wrong
-
Some fans have to travel far. For them, it saves time and money.
-
USD has five homes games to close out the conference season. Why would a conference allow that? Edit: USD has four big games to end the season with a trip to Brookings mixed in.
-
There are only two doubleheaders at home, Denver and ORU. That won’t be many tickets not sold because of them and will get better overall crowds.
-
Midco probably needed programming on Wed nite. UND wouldn’t have those games either Friday or Saturday because of hockey.
-
Play at Penn St Thanksgiving Eve for both M & W.

Surely interim AFA AD Jennifer Block does not approve of a member of her department posting that some fans are equivalent to BS. Surely, you have NDSU’s athletic department in your sights.

A 1% chance of winning at Sam Houston is simply not credible. Even their fan base is questioning whether they would be on top of the Southland. The Southland has some weak weak teams. For us, a Sam Houston win would greatly elevate our playoff chances.

The A’s were behind 5-1 the Rangers after six. Khris Davis then hits a three run HR in the 7th. He hits a two run homer with one strike left in the ninth. Treinen then strikes out the side in the bottom of the ninth. Davis has hit six homers in three games. A’s 6, Rangers 5, F. 17 of their last 26 wins have been come back victories. But their 4 HR streak was snapped as they only hit two.

SIU continues to see big drops in enrollment. The upcoming freshman class is down 18%. Parents aren’t willing to pay the massive tuition in the state as out-of-state rates are cheaper in Missouri and Iowa. That’s what happens if your state government is so massively dysfunctional. https://siucfa.files.wordpress.com/2018/07/fa-news-21-july-2018.pdf

The Twins need to get hot quick, obviously. The Oakland A’s beat the Texas Rangers in 10 innings, 13-10. They were behind 10-2 after 6. The first time they have won a game behind by 8 after 6 innings since they were the Philadelphia A’s and beat the St Louis Browns back in 1939. Have hit four HR’s in three consecutive games. Have gained 7 games in the last 22. 16 of their last 25 wins have been comebacks. https://deadspin.com/god-help-me-im-starting-to-believe-in-the-as-again-1827861048

UALR included the cost of starting a marching band as part of the football cost. It will be hilarious when you trolls have to eat your turds that you’ve spouted.

Imagine CC has gone through an elaborate planning process. Sometimes a smaller rink could bring in bigger $s just based on ticket demand so ticket prices go up. The students are more likely to be part of it too, as it doesn’t have the long job to World Arena. Big games like the DU series can still be at World Arena. Sucks for UND fans though, as they might be frozen out..

http://blogs.und.edu/und-today/2018/01/masters-of-planning/ There are longer buildings planned along University, with parking and then intramural fields. But the Herald article says there are no plans right now to build. Heard from some very old fans that say this is where a new football stadium would be built, but that location has such bad access and doesn’t have commercially developable property. Ray Richards does fits better on both accounts.
