Guess I wasn't clear in my post. Not advocating moving to D-II, nor dropping football. Just an observation of who these coaches are recruiting and how they are using them. If they are recruiting project players, they have to coach them up, not put them in impossible positions and then erode everyone's confidence with the play calling.

I don't think the STYLE of football is the problem. There was a comparison to NDSU a few days ago, and the style of the 2 teams seems very comparable. It's in the placement of the plays, the execution of the plays and the result of the plays that are different. It's the confidence of execution in both the coaches and the players. It is also the ability or willingness to make adjustments during the game to adapt to what the opponent is throwing at you. Plus, NDSU, with their history (and not just recent history) gets their pick of the recruits, while Bubba, Rudy and the rest of the UND staff sign players that have no other D-I offers. Not saying these UND recruits are not good, but maybe they are D-II good, just not able to compete on the D-I level. I would be willing to bet that NDSU has as many players playing on Sunday as some of the lower P5 schools, like Minnesota and Rutgers.

Chaves should be asking for the resignation tonight.

One of them will not get the NDSU job. Its the same pitch that the coaches would give to the recruits... You can be part of something special in turning this program around.

The question is not where will Chaves find the money to buy out Bubba's contract. The question is/should be does Chaves ask for Schweigert's resignation or should he demand Schweigert's resignation. Losing a recruit or 2 can't be worse than letting this go on for 3 more years. Get a coach who knows how to win in FCS. Get one of the coordinators from 70 miles south. Promise them the job as soon as their playoff run is over and open the application process to coincide with closing it the day after Entz or Messingham has finished the season (right after the FCS Championship game). The current UND staff will struggle to finish in the top half of the MVFC and does not have what is necessary to challenge for MVFC titles.

Entz or Messingham. Time to get serious about being ready for the MVFC.

Hypothetical question... If UND looked 70 miles south at a coordinator (for UND HC), is that stupid 30 day, or whatever it was when Schweigert was finally hired, window waived? Can an employee at another ND institution be brought in without a long waiting period?

If the offense can't stay on the field for more than 3 and out, if the defense can't get off the field... the defense will be totally gassed by the 4th quarter at 7,000 feet elevation. Looking at recent history of 3rd quarter offensive performance, the defense is going to have a very rough second half.

This was the overwhelmingly sentiment of this forum a year (and for some, more than a year) ago. Yet, he returned. It's not up to us, it's up to Kennedy, Chaves and (ultimately) Schweigert.

Not going to be a popular opinion on this board, but taking off the kelly green glasses... We gotta remember that the MVFC pitches their strength of schedule and a 6 - 5 UNI will get in before a 7 - 4 UND. Heck, even a 6 - 5 WIU gets in before a 7 - 4 UND (history repeats). Plus, Indiana State would be 7 - 4 if they beat Western Illinois next Saturday and would be picked before a 7 - 4 UND. They might be right. The only team UND beat that has a winning record is Montana. The question is... Is 7 - 4 good enough for Kennedy and Chaves? Will there be pressure to make changes before next season? What if UND loses to NAU next Saturday and finishes 6 - 5? That's a winning record, albeit a disappointing season, considering the preseason expectations with the quality of the players on this team. UND's last game of the season will be this Saturday. Was last Saturday the last home game for any of the coaches?

UND is not playing North Alabama next week. UND is playing Northern Arizona, aka NAU
