Why would anyone at UND, which can't sell out an 11k stadium talk down to a smaller city that routinely has a greater attendance than the Alerus can handle? Good for SDSU to be looking toward the future when they built their stadium. Their fb program has been on the rise and the Sioux Falls metro will continue to grow. They have a realistic chance to hit sellouts the way they are headed. UND will (hopefully) be envious of the capacity of the Jacks stadium as they rebuild a winning tradition, but November and especially December in northern ND is considerably nastier than central-southern SD. All that said, why does the NCAA schedule the first round playoff game on Thanksgiving weekend? There is enough time off after the semifinal to delay the playoff a week. Is it because of finals?

The Big Sky is too big, both in geography and number of institutions (for FCS). i know many on here deride SiouxVolley, but it would be nice if the school presidents had his vision. The research institutions of the northern states really should peel off and form an 8 to 10 team conference of like-minded schools. disclaimer - always liked UND in the Big Sky over the Summit League. Would have preferred that UND stay put in the BSC. On the other hand, restarting rivalries in the Summit is understandable.

Mussman recruited much better qb's. Braden Hansen would probably not come to play under Schweigert and Rudolph.

So here is my stupid question... how many of these signees had offers from other schools? Hoe many had only 1 offer (from UND)?

Notwithstanding the current sentiment on this board for creating a Great Northern Conference, doubt that the Montanas and Idaho want to join a center of the country conference when they are the center of the Big Sky Conference (perception-wise if nor geographically). With the problems the Summit has retaining members, maybe the powers that be should hold their nose and merge with the WAC. When Bakersfield leaves the WAC and with the looming threats of Chicago State leaving the WAC and Ft Wayne leaving the Summit, both conferences will be hurting. Realize that many here want nothing to do with Grand Canyon and maybe Cal Baptist, but it may be a way for both conferences to finally find stability. It would stretch from Canada to Mexico and from the Mississippi to the Pacific. Unfortunately, that is a huge footprint, but could have north/south or even east/west divisions. With WAC baseball and soccer, it would also offer enough team sports to avoid the loss of auto-bids when Ft Wayne leaves the Summit. just spitballin' here, 'cause the other alternative seems to be for the Summit to bring in move-ups, since only UND seems to want to move to the Summit instead of out of it.
