UND would be in 6th place if the Big Sky Conference standings included UND. If Montana State beats Montana, they would be 6 - 2 in the conference (including the loss to UND) and 9 - 3 overall. Their non-conference loss is to FCS Texas Tech. Meanwhile, UND with a win next weekend would be the equivalent of 5 - 3 in the ‘conference’ and 7 - 4 overall. And most likely, the equivalent of 6th in the Big Sky. Will the selection committee will look at UND as a quasi-BSC team? If they do, that would be 6 of 24 teams (1/4 of the field) coming from the Big Sky. There will be 5 from the MVFC and the automatic qualifiers. Is there room for a 7 - 4 UND? Not having a 12th game may come in to play and cost UND in the end. 8 - 4 would certainly look better to the committee.

Kinda like the football threads the past 24 hours must be hockey season

If the Big Sky rep is still the d-bag from Idaho State, UND has never had the Big Sky in its corner.

Speaking of 3... how often will Bubba’s Hawks finish in the top 3 of the MVFC?
-
Ok. Not a gopher or Fleck fan, so haven’t been following closely. But impressed by their current record. How many years has Bubba had? More than 3... oh yeah... Bubba went to the playoffs in his third year. My bad...
-
Oh. I get it. My apologies
-
You forgot 3 - 7 Idaho State
-
For those who don’t think coaching makes the difference... who’d’a thought Minnesota would be 9 - 0 and on the brink of winning the B1G West in Fleck’s second year?
-
What I meant was that the Idaho State loss is what kept UND out of the playoffs. Bubba has to stop losing to them. 2 non conference games coming up against ISU. They (and EWU) are the one that Bubba can’t seem to overcome.

You may not like it, but he is right

When you consider that Montana has just over 1 million people and yet have so many players between Montana and Montana State (too lazy to go back in the previous posts, but didn’t someone count the numbers and it totals over 100 players between the 2 teams?) These are mostly small town players who are recruited and developed in state. ND and SD have not quite as many people, but there are many of these small town kids who are D-I caliber. NDSU finds them. SDSU finds them. UND is starting to find them... now the onus is on Bubba and crew to develop the ones they are able to recruit so that more of them are willing to join the Hawks like it was when Roger Thomas and Dale Lennon turned the program around. It can be done!

A cupcake before the “conference” schedule and leave the Nov 2 bye. There had to be someone out there that was available early on.
-
When does Brewster’s contract conclude? Is Mallory Bernhard ready to take the helm? 50 - 4, even at the high school level, sounds pretty impressive.

Today’s students do not see historic rivalries with the Dakota schools. Maybe South Dakota, but they have not been conference mates since before this group of students started at UND. Yes NDSU will resume the rivalry immediately, but the Coyotes and Jackrabbits, as well as UNI have not been conference rivals during the last 5 or more years. Rivals for us old-timers, yes. Current students -has to have time to develop again.

And UND will not have anyone advocating for them on the selection committee. The Hawks have to leave it all on the field the next 3 games and finish with 5 straight to overcome the loss at Pokie.
-
As Jack Michaels said in the pre-game show lest week... UND’s record so far is win lose win lose win lose win are we seeing a pattern here? would be nice to see the pattern broken.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Guess the post was too long for you, so I will give you the readers digest version. I am not advocating a split. The point of this post is that G5 FBS is not a better destination the FCS unless there is a playoff system in place. It was about the futility of going undefeated in G5, even if it is 2 years in a row, like Central Florida. And that March Madness is more national exposure than a pre-Christmas bowl game.
-
Alright!! now get 2 wins in a row.

This is the common belief on this board. Is it really though? Mussman was a better recruiter, imho. Braden Hansen and Kenny Golladay off the top of my head. Muss may not have done much with them, but Bubba’s only trip to the playoffs was with (mostly) Mussman’s recruits. Now the general feeling among many posters is that Bubba is recruiting D-II level players. That is not bad when they are natural talents like Santiago, but this staff is not doing a very good job of coaching them up to be competitive. It is going to be tough the in the MVFC.

We deliver... for you

Guessing the problem is that he is based in Fargo and extremely pro-Bison... but he isn’t saying anything that hasn’t been discussed (at some serious length) on this forum other than to post Bubba’s contract, which seems excessive.

He applied the last time around...
