  1. Can Boise State really be considered a recent move-up? They left the Big Sky over 20 years ago.
  2. If UND is going to recruit 'project' football players, they need to invest the necessary resources to coach them up to get the most out of the potential they are recruiting. Apparently, Rudolph is not willing and/or able to do that. Knauf? Baukol?
  3. How many 3 and outs on dive-dive-pass? the offense sputtered on too many series. Play calling? At least some of the time? Execution? At least some of the time. Poor utilization of personnel? Way too often, that answer was yes.
  4. If this is true, and Rudolph's actions support that it is true, it does not invoke much confidence in the current coaching style. well said Ira it would have been interesting to see what Mollberg could have done with Bohl and Vigen's coaching. (but at UND not SU)
  5. Noticed this while visiting in-laws this fall south of Jamestown. What will Ron High Horse and Leigh J-Not have to say about this? guessing RHHIT (Sioux) is not happy and RJ (Chippewa) is happy, since Red Tomahawk is a Standing Rock Sioux.
  6. So DeBoer can assemble a great staff. I don't see a problem with that.

    2017 Season

A question, since I don't remember the answer... did most of these injuries occur in games or practice session?
  8. Studsrud was a running qb who couldn't throw deep with accuracy. The receiving corps was not great at holding on to the ball. It doesn't explain running a smallish back into the middle of the line repeatedly, but maybe that is what Bubba and Rudy felt they had to do with the personnel they had. on second thought, nah... They could have used Olivera and JJ better and not run the little guy into the line on every first down. Said it before, will say it again... Rudy runs the offense the way Bubba wants it done. Otherwise there has been plenty of opportunity for change, either by replacing the OC or directing him to do things differently. I think this falls on Bubba. If the defense can't keep the other teams out of the end zone, his offense is not dynamic enough to overcome 30 to 40 points being put up by the other teams.
  9. If Rudolph still has a job today, he is not going anywhere. My contention that he is running the offense the way Bubba wants it run stands. If Bubba didn't like the offensive scheme, he has had 3 years before this one to change things, including either sending Rudy down the road or directing Rudy to open up the play book more.
  10. OK, you win. I can't tell the Minnesota 'M' from the Michigan 'M' from the Maryland 'M' from the Missouri 'M' from the Montana State 'M' either.
  11. I am not a hockey only fan. Actually a football first fan. we have a regular golf group with alums from Notre Dame, Michigan, Iowa State. None of them care about their hockey teams. After football, they follow basketball and even the Michigan grads don't care about the hockey team. The Notre Dame alums had an interlocking ND front license plate that was often confused with North Dakota. (big border patrol presence here in southern Arizona, some transfers from the northern border) Some of them would ask when they were at UND.
  12. North Dakota had the interlocking ND first. Notre Dame copied UND. i remember seeing a picture of a Minnesota vs North Dakota football game from the 20's or 30's where the band at halftime formed then interlocking ND.

    2017 Season

I know it is not a popular opinion on this board, but in my not-so-humble opinion, Faison made a mistake when he didn't hire DeBoer. Bubba was the safe choice and I don't think Faison was much for making bold moves.

    2017 Season

That's what Darell's post implies. Bubba's better teams had more Mussman recruits. Schweigert's underclassmen were outmatched this year, even when going up against freshman quarterbacks. i think the answer lies in 2018, with Schweigert's recruits and none of Mussman's leftovers
  15. As I watch other college football games this season, I have noticed that by an overwhelming percentage, most (not all, of course) flagship schools in their respective states have the initial of the state on their helmet. (think Minnesota, Wisconsin. Nebraska, Alabama. Arizona, Oregon, Washington, even South Dakota) This is also true of the jerseys of the state schools that sponsor hockey. The 'State U' teams like NDSU have the logo or their mascot on their helmet. (Jackrabbits, Sun Devils, etc). Of course, Montana goes their own way and MSU has an M, the Griz have their team name. The interlocking ND is infinitely better than the post office logo UND currently uses. As for confusion with the other ND? They don't have the letters on their golden domes. bring back the ND

    2017 Season

Think you may have a point ... Mussman was a better recruiter than Schweigert. Next year will be very important in showing how Schweigert's style of recruiting under the radar high schoolers pans out. Is it effective, or does the staff need to be better at getting talent that other teams covet? I understand that there were a lot of injuries this year, but the drop off from the beginning of the season has been alarming. Shouldn't backups at this level at least be competitive? Especially after having multiple game experience as the year progresses? If UND wants to beat more than the likes of Missouri State, Indiana State and Southern Illinois of the MVFC, The Hawks must have a roster that can overcome injuries.

    Hawks - Eagles

What a fun way for Studsrud to finish his UND career! Turn the offense loose, since there is really nothing to lose. Oh, wait a minute... maybe be it would prove something else...
  18. He appears to be a better head coach than OC. Faison may have missed the boat, but we will never know.
  19. Let's look at this from a different perspective... if Rudolph returns, will position coaches leave?
  20. Why does Schweigert keep getting a free pass from almost everyone on this board? Bubba is the head coach. If Rudolph wasn't running the offense the way Bubba wants, he would have been corrected or replaced long before next Sunday.
  21. Actually Deacades of Hockey >>>>> year or two of Wrasslin'
  22. Correction... Hockey >> Wrasslin'
  23. Don't get me wrong, Studarud fits Bubba's run first, run second scheme extremely well, but I don't think he is a throwing qb
  24. That is not the only passing shortfall, Studarud also can't throw deep with accuracy and that would be an integral part of being a dual threat
  25. dispute the claim that Studarud is a dual threat. He is a running qb, but his passing skills are questionable. IMHO he has a history of not being accurate in delivering the ball to the flat, so that is why there are no screen passes in the Hawks' playbook. are the dropped passes fully on the receivers or could the ball have been put in a better position to be caught? Also, Studarud's predilection to lock on to a receiver has been often discussed here. That is not the quality of a good passing qb. On the other hand, if you really mean he is a duel threat, bring on Aaron Burr.
