My estimate is that she is unaware of the so called goon letter. By all that is good and merciful just get this thing over with. -

Why do we care what they think? -
No Hawks please, too much of a cliché.

I have also suggested Nodaks for essentially the same reasons stated above. If the UI Illini can handle the phonetic reference and OU is the Sooners, then UND stakeholders could eventually identify with Nodaks.

Anyone know whether the Montana game, which is carried by Root, will be webcast by BigSky TV?

4th from the left kneeling looks like Larry Fine.

Meh...so I watch on TV and don't spend money in St. Cloud on gas. lodging, and meals.

These were good for a chuckle. Thanks!

NCAA To Sanction UND if School Does Not Adopt New Nickname
TBR replied to Benny Baker's topic in UND Nickname
One way to interpret this discrepancy is that the committee members have more information at their disposal than do the students, have spent more time digesting that information, and have more insight to the ramifications of various options. Not saying that that is necessarily the case, but I don't think we are necessarily seeing some sort of oligarchy either. -
This game will be the only WYO game not televised by Root or ESPN indicating that most people in the Laramie area consider it the equivalent of an exhibition game, at least from a fan interest perspective. Unfortunately, Bohl will not be one of those people. I liked the idea suggested above about bringing the team to the Rockies several days early on to acclimate the flatlanders to the high elevation, but even were that to be done you would have to make a mediocre FBS team with a substantial home field advantge over a mediocre FCS team a 17 point favorite. WYO 30, UND 13

Still seems to me "Nodaks" would be a good compromise choice. The UI Illini name has the obvious phonetic reference to the state it represents and the U Sooners recognize the residents of Oklahoma. Somehow people in Illinois and Oklahoma have long since grown to identify with these names, and the use of Nodaks circumvents the assuming of a new identity. Make the name official to placate the NCAA and then simply ignore it if need be in deference to those that don't want to be anything other than the FS. -
"New Americans" what do they bring to the table in the region
TBR replied to Redneksioux's topic in Community
"As the Council on Foreign Relations' Micah Zenko points out, the Bush administration offered to negotiate directly with Iran over its nuclear program in 2006 — the first such American offer in about 25 years. That doesn't mean Bush would have necessarily taken the exact same deal as Obama, but it's a reminder that some of the political rhetoric around the deal is exactly that — political. Bush's strategy, according to his national security adviser Stephen Hadley, was to offer "the relaxation of existing economic sanctions and active international support for a truly peaceful civilian nuclear program" in exchange for clear limits on Iran's ability to push toward a bomb. Bush's ideal end state, in other words, looked a lot like what this deal accomplishes." http://www.vox.com/2015/7/14/8958245/iran-nuclear-deal-bush -

TBR replied to Redneksioux's topic in Community
This^. It was GW Bush that got the ball rolling on negotiating with Iran. And why not, he is the one that empowered Iran in the region in the first place. A great deal of the opposition we see in Congress to the current deal is political posturing. -

In light of the ongoing discussions and the "Goon letter", I am removing myself from the no-name camp. In terms of a simple risk assessment, UND has far more to lose than it has to gain from going nameless. It may not happen in the first two games, but I would not be the least bit surprised to find rival fans making trouble, and lots of it, perhaps including yellow or maroon clad fans chanting lets go Sioux so they can shortly thereafter complain about it. "Nodaks" is the best middle ground solution. -
OK. The difference between alumnus and alumni was a fantasy football team. Thanks for the clarification. Is the difference still a football team, or have things changed?
-
Maybe he was just expressing contempt for Cosmo Kramer and his legion of fans.
-
Ignorance of the singular form of alumni doesn't do a whole lot for credibility either.

Yes, and add Fox "News" as long as we are making a list. Cable "news" is about entertainment. -

Cecil is getting more press than a lot of issues. This simple fact does not mean that any two of these issues are related. This isn't rocket science. -

No. That is just you regurgitating a talking point you read or heard on talk radio. But if you find comfort in simplification and over-generalizing I am happy for you. However you may be disappointed to learn that I am against both abortion (most of them anyway) and trophy hunting. -

Maybe everyone should just take a step back and realize that posts on the internet often sound a lot more terse than they are meant to be.
