He did end up at Crookston, perhaps lasted a year. At the time, had some off ice issues but was extremely talented. Alleged story...he went to pre-season Captains practice at UND. Before the ol' world wide web...nobody knew who he was and just figured it was someone Blais told to show up. Real practices start and Blais is like "who the hell is this kid?" lol.... Irey family that came through Bismarck also with massive Bottineau connections.

Yup...I just don't know how the youth is divided geographically between the 3 programs. I used to know that kind of stuff, but this is my last go around. The hope would be for 3 good teams.
-
Yeah for sure. That is wild. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there's 3 teams. It's up to the youth program to grow the depth and skill...and hopefully Bismarck keeps recycling through hockey generations, that's where the west is way behind.
-
IDK all towns lose kids early. I think it's moreso with the 3 HS teams cutting into the depth. For example, had Legacy not started, CHS would've had 2 Vigs, Beasley and Martell on their roster 2 years ago (all left for NAHL their senior seasons) plus Marcus Butts who was getting JR attention but chose baseball instead, in addition to some really players one each teams line 2/3. Instead of one great team, Bismarck had 2 "good" teams. Gonna take awhile for the depth of Bismarck Hockey Boosters to fill 3 lines on 3 HS teams...and by that I mean in order for them to make a serious run at all 3 qualifying.
-
Another OT win for CHS and they about lock up the 2 seed. Olson has done an amazing job with this team.
-
They've been missing an impact player for about 2 weeks now. He should be set to return soon. Regardless...seeds 2-6 in the West, on the right weekend....take your pick. All about peaking at the right time.

Devils Lake has a FR goalie on their girls team who is also legit. She's going to be an animal. L/B put up 16 SOG in the first an 21 in the second and trailed 2-1 going into period 3. 25 SOG in period 3 and finally scored 3 times but it took a tip and plenty of net front traffic.

What a great quote from Forsberg in the DL Newspaper: “It gives us a lot of confidence,” Forsberg said. “Down goes No. 1, you know? We had to really push ourselves to win this game. And obviously [the Knights] didn’t come to expect that. They thought they were gonna come here and wipe us clean and beat our ass.”
-
Keller likely has them all. Perhaps minus the first one, which was tipped. But I agree...take advantage of it, and Mandan did just that.
-
I think the only illness they had is the backup goaltender plague. And Mandan plugging up the d zone plague.
-
Minot's goalie situation wasn't good but holding the Magi to 1 is impressive.
-
I guess the point is to have the 4 best teams playing on Friday night...and eventually into Saturday with 2. Same thing happens in every sport. In MN there's teams from the south who would get their ass tagged by 2,3,4th place teams from Section 8.
-
Shots fired.
-
I'll say this knowing both teams. LHS and CHS need to get healthy before the end of the season. Legacy will be down 3 Top 9s (2 top 6) and another depth F against RR on Saturday. It would be an uphill climb with those kids, now they're really digging deep into the roster. CHS also down 2-3 F the last week or so. I know both teams aren't making excuses....next man up mentality. Every team goes through the injury process throughout the season, but both those teams need: 1. to avoid any further injury and 2. to get healthy.
-
Minot tendy is allegedly out tonight after a collision against North. When he went out last weekend it was 4-0. Ended 4-3.
-
Early season, I thought perhaps the East was down and maybe Minot and then even 2/3 would have a punchers chance on Thursday at state. Looks like it'll just be the annual tradition once again.
-
I mean there's a reason Hermantown is also on a historic run. Transfer away, as long as the rules aren't bent. It is the way in MN....if you ain't transerrin' you ain't tryin'.
-
Interesting. I know they get a lot of Fargo on the girls team, I honestly thought the boys was mostly homegrown. But yeah...as gfhockey stated, there's a lot o moving and shaking that goes on in MN regarding hockey. Boys and Girls.
-
Yeah I've heard that. There's very few that don't play youth hockey in Moorhead and that show up on their HS team. Suter situation isn't normal there.
-
They're youth program is insane. I don't think they get a ton of transfers. If people move their it's generally in the youth. Moorhead over EGF 6-3
-
Moorhead's a wagon.
-
Busy night on the boys side, but RR at WF by far the best matchup. Will be interesting to follow. CHS - L/B girls.
-
No. At Mandan Tuesday probably toughest game left on paper. Biggest thing v Minot - stay outta the box. They're deadly, in fact according to Gillen's site, operating at 40% on the PP.
