I was 50/50 on Motzko. Willing to give him another year, not surprised his time came to and end. Larson has experience, connections and a hell of a good staff. There's reasons for optimism. I'll trust David Carle on this one. And I like Oliver. He has a future. Played for his old man. Nick was just a rugrat at the rink back then.
-
I meant Rohlik, not Miller. @tnt Took some time for me to come around on Larson initially. It won't take long, everyone here will want Motzko back. SCSU on the other hand...
-
Potulny, Miller, Larson all with HC experience at NCAA... ....toss in Laylin, Cullen....keep Gordon and Martin. Not even close IMO.
-
Based on Larson's visit with PA on KFAN, revamping the defense is his 1st priority. I'm guessing he is waiting to see who is in the portal to fill in the holes, who from Canadian JRs would even consider MN, and making decisions based on current roster and incoming recruits.

SCSU update, probably to nobody's surprise, Sydney Wolf now thinks the finalists are: Oliver, Herter and Winters.
-
Gophers: Vegoe posted on GPL that Matt Cullen will be in a "player development role." Rumored that Laylin will be an assistant and possibly keep Gordon and Paul Martin, leaving Steve Miller odd man out. SCSU: Sydney Wolf tweeted out yesterday SCSU was hesitant about letting current assistants go, assumed that was due to budget. She later tweeted that Bemidji assistant Trevor Winter is one name she's heard a few times....but also noted that it's been pretty tight lipped who the other finalists are.
-
He had put some Gopher goalie equipment on Facebook marketplace before Larson was hired so we knew that one was coming....kinda funny.

Yes. Mooney and Ziemer have both had NIL type announcements recently (Ziemer yesterday or Sunday), so fans thinking that's a good sign.

Should be a great Frozen Four. UND-UW, as a Gopher fan I'd just like to see a meteor shower lol. UND has a better roster and should be favored, the wildcard in that crafty SOB behind the bench for Wisconsin. Perhaps offset however, but UNDs advantage in the pipes with Spunar. I'll take UND 4-2. DU-Michigan. When Michigan is going, they are electric and I'm not sure anyone can stop them, as evidenced by jumping on UMD. But then the Dogs turned the tables. UM will try to get up and down the ice, will be interesting to see how Carle combats that, because DU has the skill and grit to play whatever style is necessary. Stay out of the box and I like the Pioneers chances - I think this is an OT game and a toss up. My brain says DU because of street cred, my stomach says UM. UND - Michigan for the ship. Regardless, Frozen Fours don't grow on trees. Enjoy the ride, one hell of a turnaround by UND this season - forget that Michigan and UW didn't make the tournament last year either. Gives me a little hope for the Larson's squad next year at least. Good luck!

Pretty innocent play on Stramel, sometimes those turn out the worst. Hopefully not for his sake.
-
Sometimes you need some puck luck, and then a beauty for Sparty. 31 seconds apart, 2-1. TV mentioned they are likely without Stramel the rest of the game.
-
See ya Bentley, it was a good run.
-
I'll take some of whatever Western sniffed between periods. Wow.
-
Hammer with rubber band groin. Wow.
-
This might go 2-3 OT tied 0-0 at this rate. Pretty solid uniform combo matchup, I must say.

Sioux Falls Regional - UND / Prov / QU / Merrimack

damn, that's a bad look for him. don't mind most of it, but the "out west" comment is whiner 101. -
Elated - None since the Gophers are already refreshing the transfer portal spreadsheet every 5 mnutes. Happy - Bentley, Merrimack, Uconn, Dartmouth. Mankato. Unhappy - North Dakota (sorry) but if they hoist I'll come with nothing but respect. Michigan (F*ck no), Michigan State (respect it but nope, don't want a B1G team unless it's Minnesota), Wisconsin (not a chickens d*ck chance I'd root for them even if they were at war with a middle east country). Penn State (oh helllllll no). Quinnipiac - can't get over the OT L. Denver - no, too many already, get lost. OK - Duluth, only reason I'd be "fine" with it is Bismarck native Harper Benz. Providence - indifferent. Western - I can stomach that. Cornell - indifferent. Hope that helps. Enjoy the tournament. On the flip side, the let down started early this year for me, so no dick punches like the last 5 years.

Same. Signed, Gopher Fan

Ziemer was at the presser yesterday....

Strikes while the iron is hot. What a season for him.

Cashman’s wife is from the east coast and that’s where she wants to be.

I'm at peace with that decision if that's the case. Although the last 3 years haven't gone great, SCSU the school is a dumpster fire and maybe that plays a role. He seems to have the respect of the rest of the NCHC and college hockey as well. He came out of left field for me personally, but that's why I'm just an idiot on the internet. Let's see if any Huskies hit the portal and come to dinkytown with him, there's a couple holes to fill.
-
I get the rush on the women, the portal opened today. As long as Ben Gordon, Paul Martin, etc are in contact with recruits and the team, I have no idea why it needs to happen today or tomorrow.
-
YHH says Pat F. "wants to comet to Minnesota." Michelleti immediately response that it's incorrect and "call me...." That's a hilarious interaction, gonna have to go with Pat the Rat on this one.

Based on the timeline from Wednesday to Friday's tweet, I don't think he even interviewed. There may have been contact, but they were still in SF practicing up until the ADs tweet claiming he's staying. Not that an interview can't be done over the phone...but apparently he was contacting committed recruits to Augie the day Motzko left.
