  1. Yeah I think we all know it will never happen.
  2. So AA hockey would be Minot, Bismarck x 3, WF x 2, GF x 2 and Fargo x 3, Mandan x 1 essentially based on attendance. I don't think that's keeping anyone in the state who wants to leave unfortunately.
  3. Probably nothing I guess. MN won't wanna play anyone west of Fargo or GF anyway. Not sure how AA/A would work in ND with so few teams.
  4. Yup. I believe there are 4 ND girls headed to Warroad this year...lol.
  5. Well we are now up to 5 Bismarck girls who have left town since the Blizzard split. By my recollection there was only 2 in the entire history of the Blizzard who had left for other opportunities (Kennedy Blair and Madison Brown). Was hoping Britta Curl would've set the tone - even after Idalksi told her she needed to get the hell out of ND. I'm not gonna list names like above but from the top of my head there are 11 girls who have left ND just this season. And I have no clue if there's any GF girls who cross the river to play either (there were a couple last year who went to Sacred Heart, which is co-op with Crookston). This is getting out of control for boys and girls.
  6. Well looks like his resignation hit the local news today. Job posting went live on Friday already. Oddly enough Bismarck Hockey Boosters hasn't announced anything yet. Just hope the local psychos don't chew him up and spit him out too fast. Odd timing to hire a coach, and Bismarck doesn't exactly attract a lot of candidates either. I believe when Peluso resigned they opened the interviews up for 2 cycles because nobody applied. When the local girls teams were forced to split only one coach applied for each side.I believe Legacy had only 2 candidates. Players are hoping the remaining staff can stay in tact, Faragher just started teaching last year at Legacy so that would be a fairly seamless transition and the rest of the staff has a good hockey background. We were fortunate to have him for 2 years and hope he can help change the culture of Bismarck Hockey.
  7. More ice time in the SJ? Easier to travel too? Gotta be tough for a SR to be a NAHL regular.
  8. Grubb should be in there from Minot. Schoenborn perhaps too but he's already been peaced out for a couple years.
  9. Ackerman (Sioux Falls Power) and Schlaffman (Northstar 16U)from BIsmarck are gonzo without ever stepping onto the ice at BHS. Rudolph from WF listed on Northstar twitter as well as is a Penner from Fargo. edit: and keup from CHS. Off to Michigan. Logged a lot of minutes on defense.
  10. SJHL I believe that's where B. Panzer was last year. Also see that Benson Grande is leaving North for some academy out east. Add to the fact that many kids have left the state for various reasons before hitting the ice in a ND HS game, this has to be the biggest clearing house in the state of ND HS Hockey history.
  11. Yup. Other goalie had announced she was leaving a month earlier. The job was hers as the only goalie. Then she left as well to join her sister out there. Not surprising as neither girl grew up in our youth program but its a dog sh*t deal for the girls who have dedicated 10+ years to the game to have to deal with as the HS level. Retention since the split has been worse then before the split, more girls have quit or left town and it's not even close. 2 8th graders being forced to move up is a huge loss for the youth program, as stated earlier both of them need development. BHB is left with a 9th grade goalie and enough skaters for 2-3 youth teams. The split being what it is, the admins botched the goaltender situation with the split. There are 6 goalies age FR-SR this year walking the halls of the SMCHS/CHS split (4 SMCHS, 2 at CHS who no longer player due to competition/playing time in that COOP). There are zero goalies at LHS/BHS walking the halls. Not sure what the rationale was there but admins were made well aware of that for 2+ years before the split came official. Adversity is a life lesson...it is what it is. Moving on, just disappointing to see so many kids leaving the state. EDIT: one bonus to girls hockey this year is the addition of some sort of modified JV schedule. Not sure on all details but hearing 8 games with 2 "periods" so those who won't play during varsity game can still get a little bit of action. I'm expecting to see a lot more 2 maybe 3 line teams this winter.
  12. She split time on the Minot Bantam AA team last season. A very good goaltender. However, Minot still has Ackerman.
  13. CHS will have 3 really good lines at forward and return their goaltender. Only problem is they basically don't return a defenseman who played last season. Biggest loss for Legacy will be Martell on defense, off to Northstar. Mandan didn't lose much. I think Minot will be just fine. BHS is going to be...uh....it was a clearing house of kids quitting, tranferring, moving, etc. Girls hockey is an absolute gong show. Both LHS/BHS goalies took off for academies out east. It'll either be an 8th grade tandem (both need to develop but they're being forced up) or a girl who's never skated before giving hockey a shot. 2 HS teams looked great to everyone outside of the capital city...now this is the second year in a row the local club has been directly affected by it and not for good reasons. 4 girls have left Bismarck since the split....And I get it, the rest of the state loves it. First world problems. Around the state, one goalie from Minot headed to Warroad, a JVC girl headed to Warroad, 4 incoming WF players (all very good players) all headed out of state. This is a disturbing trend for both sexes of hockey and North Dakota needs to do something about it. I'm sure there's other players who are leaving on the girls side too, who knows. Mandan should win girls state. They lost one player. Biggest question mark is the goaltending.
  14. Egf doesn’t have a bad crop often anymore do they?
  15. $400 some a player pays a lot of bills!
  16. In the Capital City, Vig 1 tendered to the NAHL - OKC. He would've been in the running for SR athlete of the year too. CHS lost another D to some AAA program. They are returning a great batch of forwards and their goalie from last year but pretty much lost every single D minute. BHS - Bantam AA goalie didn't set foot on the ice he's off to Sioux Falls Power. LHS lost their top D to Northstar. Heard Minot's coach is sending his kid to SSM. DL kid headed to North Star, and I'm sure there's plenty more. There's girls leaving the state as well. Maybe a AAA academy like Northstar would at least keep kids in the borders a bit more? I know this isn't just a ND issue and there's kids/families that leave everywhere, including MN. Just a summertime discussion point. Once again, won't rip anyone who chooses to do what they feel is best.
  17. There's some truth to that. Sometimes a kid will do something crazy when opportunity presents itself too.
  18. Looks/sounds like there's plenty of underclassmen departing ND HS hockey. Maybe it's a normal amount of kids, I don't know. Sure seems like more to me. In an era where "if you're good enough they will find you," it seems like ND (especially west side) kids still carry some sort of label. No clue how ND HS Hockey, or NDAHA can prevent this. I personally think it sucks, but also don't blame the kids/families who want more either. At the end of the day, sports is about "me" if you have aspirations beyond HS. Quite the pickle.
  19. What's up in EGF? Larry made a couple mistakes. He never should've met with the families or emailed back and forth with them without having administration involved. In today's era, Parents/Adults are more concerned how their kids are perceived athletically than what type of human they are. Gotta get everything on Crapbook, Instagram and Twitter and puff their chest about everything little Johhny and Debbie do. It's a slap in the face to be 3rd line, 4th line or god forbid JV. Enjoy watching your kids, as we all know time is the biggest bitch.
  20. 2023 ND NIT TEAM: Tendies: Astroup and Miller Defense: Hofer, Martell, Moser, Ray, Vig, Wockenfuss Forwards: Boren, Branson, Butts, Bydal, Coleman, Diemer, Getzlaff, Jackson, Morelli, Reynolds, Skarperud, Vetsch. Alternates: Carter and Lang up front. Krieg on D. Diederich at G.
  21. Carson Pilgrim is electric. Unbelievable.
  22. Spuds are scrappy and relentless. Love it.
  23. Unfortunately Moorhead is probably 1-2 years away and then they have a pipeline for a juggernaut. Size wise it looks like a HS team against a bantam team. edit: holy cow huge goal just as I speak 3-2 Edina.
  24. I understand the TV timeouts but I was Still shocked at how often warroads top line was on the ice. They must’ve logged 30 minutes and they continued to get better as the game went along. 3rd line maybe 6 shifts the entire game….unbelievable.
