  1. Does this include Englestad money flowing to UND? I fail to see a difference.
  2. I believe Bismarck is limited to 4 sites per organization. I also believe that each site has an annual renewal...sort of like an insurance policy. That's why if you're an organization in a bar, you gotta do your best with your staff and kiss some ass along the way, because if you don't...the hawks are circling every year on that renewal, and if you lose one gaming sight, it is difficult to replace it.
  3. It certainly was an epic fail, a historic one at that. My fan dome is...NCAA tourney or bust, and anything can happen in single elim, we all know that. I can stomach one horses rear end season, but if it rolls into next year, peace out Robert. The way the NCAA is setup now, blue blood programs should be able to recover faster from recruiting losses. Robert failed to do that this year. His job is on the line next year. I've literally watched 2 games of Gopher hockey this year and one of them was in person in Grand Forks. Completely irrelevant to me this season and it sucks.
  4. That's the way it works with charitable gaming, it's not just Fargo. Bismarck is a disaster. If you do not "baby" your charitable gaming account, someone will come in and swoop it up. Youth sports clubs in Bismarck, Minot, Mandan (I'm sure more) have purchased bars for the sole purpose of retaining the gaming accounts. If the rules provide it and Teammakers is experiencing fundraising success doing it, I have no idea why Grand Forks wouldn't try it. It would be a massive money maker and there's nothing immoral about it.
  5. I would be willing to bet any school who did what NDSU did in the 2010s would have a group of morons saying the same. Just my experience with SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS!
  6. I personally don't feel like NDSU will call UND, SDSU, USD...and I also personally don't think they should be expected to pickup that phone call. I could be wrong on both ends, just my idiot opinion.
  7. Well true, but when Schmidt wins one UND won't call it JV like they have been the last 20 years either.
  8. Kinda torn on it. Been a season ticket holder since mid 2000s. In last 4 years ive gone to 1 game and i was at chubs drinking beer by halftime. Driving 200 miles each way…hotel costs…most games being snoozers. I found the TV and then doing something else (hunt etc) easier. I will miss the regional rivalries. IMO thats what makes college sports thrive. on the flip side, im looking forward to going to Vegas for games…better non-conference games (hopefully B1G, B12; PAC efc). I feel like Schmidt is making headways to close the gap so to speak and UND will also flourish with this move. Hopefully NDSU is kicking the door in for the FBS and in a few years UND, SDSU, USD and the Montana are in the same conference.
  9. Minot with an 8-1 thrashing of Mandan last night.
  10. CHS beats Legacy 4-2. Ole has the boys playing hard once again at the end of the year.
  11. Exactly. Don't blame the ref on that one either as it was a clean catch right away. WDA is going to be awesome. The VFW Sports Arena becomes electric during WDA hockey, it is by far better than hosting in Minot as far as atmosphere goes.
  12. They did get quick whistled on a play in the second period that would've make it 2-1.
  13. Speaking of Girls Hockey. North has only lost out on 1 conference point this year as WF took them to OT last week. Fischer has accounted for 20 of the teams 63 goals as a defenseman. It's impossible to verbally describe how much she affects a game. I didn't get to see Bartz in action live, but Fischer has to be the most impactful player in the state since Bartz and then Britta Curl before that. Kilgore has the GF girls on a 8 game run. LB has won 11/12 with only loss in that time coming 2-1 to North. These 2 teams line up this weekend in a big battle for the inside track on the 2 seed (LB handed GF last loss before Christmas), but pretty impressive run for GF who has a young team. Couple other dandies this weekend as CHS travels to take on both North and WFU on the road in some massive games for seeding purposes, especially for WFU and CHS. Don't let the standings fool you, however. Outside the 1/8 matchup....every 1st round game at State has the potential for an "upset" if that's what you want to call it, there really are not upsets anymore.
  14. I did hear Minot didn't have enough for Junior Gold this year. Speaking of Watford City, I've heard that they are schedule GIRLS HS Hockey games for next season.
  15. LHS has had fits in Bottineau, tough place to play. As is Jamestown.
  16. Nymore in Bemidji one of the coldest rinks as well.
  17. Wouldn't necessarily stop kids from Crookston from enrolling in Sacred Heart either. Would be an interesting development, that's for sure. If EGF said "f it" and went AA hockey would kids from ND move across the river?
  18. Catholic school ain't for everyone.
  19. Legacy wasn't really a talking point very long, it escalated very quickly in early 2021 and the first season started that fall. The turning point was a load of Legacy kids playing JV for CHS in the 2020-2021 season basically played 4-8 max games due the high numbers at CHS. After that, parents made a push. Regardless of Legacy starting, the shift to the north was obvious and transfer rules prevented what happened in 2014. The coaches have been asking for more games since the stone ages. Never gets approved. 2 class system just isn't realistic in ND, fantasyland. But anyway...picking at straws we basically agree.
  20. Legacy wasn't even being discussed at the time of their resignation, that was on nobody's radar at that time and the parent thing was 100% made up. I do believe there was some headbutting with admins about scheduling and things like that however.
  21. I've never been on the fire Bob bandwagon but this is atrocious. I still can't believe they beat UND. First time in the Motzko era I don't even bother giving a rats behind about who or when they are playing. At this point I'd rather watch Love Island. This season is a waste. If it rolls into next season it's Raboin time.
  22. I will add: if Legacy hadn't started when it did, Century very well would've competed for a State Championship or 2. Most of those Legacy kids (year 2 WDA champions lost to Davies in OT first game of state), would've been at CHS along with the Vig boys and some very good CHS players....2 good teams would've made for one really, really good team.
  23. I moved to Bismarck in 2004. If you had told me to FF 20 years I'd have told you the West would "catch up"...I'm specifically talking about Bismarck I guess. Throw the rest in there. Bismarck has good numbers, but the point remains: you want the best hockey teams you have to consistently have the best athletes playing the game. That's not happening. Hockey is still low on the totem pole as far as that goes. One good thing I'm seeing more consistently is 2nd and 3rd generation hockey families. The more that happens, the better, IMO. Still, however....gotta find the best ATHLETES first. And the problem with hockey is you have to capture them early.
  24. Was at Mandan CHS. Mandan did not look good, something is not clicking right now for them. CHS was far more physical and controlled big chunks of the game.
