I thought Minot was a threat - at least a minimal threat - and back to back 3rd place finishes the last 2 years qualifes them as such. There will be no such threat in the west next season.

Take that $550, and in gas, hotel and food and there's your bottom line....and then when #9 for Austin snaps a twig on a one T next year, goes to the bench to get a new one, watch your money fly off the bench and into his hands. It is a genius business model for JR teams. Funny thing is, college programs are starting to run "exposure camps" as well (at least women teams are I know that for a fact).

She will be getting some large schools offering.

Hearing rumors that Minot High is getting cleared out with defections as well. With the loaded senior class gone and now 4-5 players bolting....woof.

places like fox motors stroke the parents ego and make all the promises until the check is cashed. then reality hits. I think there were 3 that left Bismarck this year. "they just love hockey this was their idea." OK....

once again, boys and girls leave the state high and dry and come back and get spots. drives me nuts, but I guess their hands are tied.

Leaving for sports is pretty specific for hockey. Although there are kids and families who may move or leave and label it something else, hockey is the only sport where it's a cash cow for suckers.

Imagine tossing that money around before a kid even hits the ice for a HS game...or maybe even bantams.

Slapshot hockey style coaching for one. Running refs out of town for 2.

It's worth it when: a) money is easily available. and b) IF you hoist. B is a tall task for any college program but if Penn State starts tossing money around, watch out.

What isn't mentioned is the AD announced 2 teams, started reaching out to the WDA and scheduling games, and then folded like a Jake Paul opponent when the "we gotta win" parents started pushing back with threats of stacking a Junior Gold team and more kids leaving. I'll never understand the Minot love affair with Junior Gold but whatever. The HS and JV cut kids this year, Junior Gold cut kids, plus they had a bunch of healthy scratches for games. That doesn't even include kids who may have quit after PW or Bantams because they could see the writing on the wall. What Minot needs to do is nuke the precious JG program until 2 HS programs are cutting. It's not rocket science...but as I stated, unbelievable that the AD folded, and honestly, it should be a school board decision/vote based on AD recommendations. The South situation sucks.

14u girls advance out of pool play with a 1-1-1 record. Play in the quarterfinals today. I think this is the first time a girls team has advance to the tourney part. A few ND Girls HS players, and a bunch that should be HS next year before the move lol....

The program that was the 6th and final for the B1G which lead to the demolition of the WCHA as we knew it. Gross.

I'd say a few things can all be true: It was a trip (stick in feet/legs on player going through NZ with speed). However, whistle didn't blow....keep playing the game. Also, don't get taken to the woodshed in the 3rd period.

It's gonna take a lot of convincing and a heck of a sales job - the numbers of zeros in a contract can do that.

Maybe I mis-represented my main point. And I agree with you. What I wish we knew is...had they not left, how many kids would've ended up in the exact same spot down the road regardless?
