  1. All I'm gonna say is they've played their best football the last couple weeks with their backs against the wall. Haven't watched sh*t on Montana State but on the right day, they are one of the best in the country, so who knows....No expectations this post season (for me anyway), gonna have to be week to week and see what goes down.
  2. Easy one for me....HS hockey started. Guessing the dome will be extremely empty. Not sure what would happen in Bozeman, IMO will depend on the weather forecast. NDSU isn't the same in the trenches this season and can't rack up 400 yards on the ground, although I do like how they've played the last few weeks. Regardless, I think it's gonna be a good playoff....
  3. Izzo is running a poll today. Over 500 votes so far and 57% say NDSU didn't deserve a seed (insert should shrug emoji).
  4. Girls side, all in state match ups Tuesday. After North and Mandan, every game is worth a follow, it's going to be a complete crap shoot. DSH-Willy: 2 scrappy teams last year, each only lost 1-2 Seniors. Should be a battle. CHS-Minot: Minot lost great SRs after finishing 3rd last year. They do have Ackerman who may be best goalie. CHS light up front, good on the back end. DL-WF: Lotta WF girls bolted town, they have a great tendy who just signed at Concordia. DL may have best player in the state in Abrahamson, who's always dangerous. GF-Davis: Lot of unknowns in this one. 2 new coaching staffs. Should be interesting. Jamestown-LB: LB lost both goalies to AAA teams, 3 good D to graduation and top F to ACL injury. Not sure much on Jamestown but they do have Sorlie in net, who is a very good goalie. Interesting night ahead. Tues. 21st: Dickinson at Williston 7:30 PM Bismarck Century at Minot 7:00 PM Grand Forks at Fargo Davies 7:30 PM Devils Lake at West Fargo United 7:00 PM Jamestown at Legacy/Bismarck 7:00 PM Fri. 24th: SE U18AA Goldwings at Minot 7:30 PM West Fargo United at Crookston 5:00 PM at Thief River Falls Sat. 25th: West Fargo United at Thief River Falls 12:00 PM at Thief River Falls Legacy/Bismarck at East Grand Forks 4:30 PM
  5. Boys side this week. Biggest games probably Davies and South Tuesday, Legacy at North Friday. Gentry Academy at RR will be a good measuring stick for sure. Tues. 21st: Grand Forks Red River at West Fargo Sheyenne 7:30 PM Mandan at Hazen/Beulah 7:30 PM Mayville-Portland-C-G at Grafton/Park River 6:00 PM Fargo Davies at Fargo South/Shanley 7:30 PM Bottineau/Rugby at Devils Lake 7:30 PM West Fargo at Fargo North 7:30 PM Fri. 24th: Bismarck Legacy at Fargo North 7:30 PM Bismarck Century at West Fargo 7:30 PM West Fargo Sheyenne at Roseau 7:00 PM Mayville-Portland-C-G at Dickinson 7:00 PM Sat. 25th: Weyburn at Williston 5:15 PM Bismarck Legacy at West Fargo 3:15 PM Mayville-Portland-C-G at Dickinson 3:00 PM Bismarck High at Fargo North 7:30 PM Gentry Academy at Grand Forks Red River 2:00 PM
  6. Izzo had UND at Sac and playing into NDSU and that winner into SDSU, posted on the Fargo Forum.
  7. After watching jamboree in Mandan yesterday the west will be a toss up with the sabers, Minot and century. Mandan has a goalie to keep them right there with those teams. CHS will be really good up front. Minot will be solid, they brought in some good youth. Legacy, depends on which team shows up.
  8. North over Mandan 2-0 in girls with an empty netter. Sounds like it was a great game. As I stated I think Those will be the 2 best teams.
  9. Devils Lake over Jamestown 5-2 to open the boys season. Big tilt on the Girls side today. Mandan travels to Fargo North. IMO, the 2 favorites going into the season.
  10. Girls west jamboree this weekend in Mandan. If I had to pick 2 finalists going into this year it would be Mandan and North.
  11. Can’t come back in ND so he’s there for good.
  12. Vig really kicked it into gear the second half of last season. CHS will be deep up front this year.
  13. Fargo Davies girls coach resigned this week. Tough blow for them, especially this time of year. Pretty damn impressive resume: Issertell served as head coach for the past nine years, including two as the South/Davies co-op head coach. He led the Eagles to a state championship in 2021 and three second-place finishes in 2020, 2022 and 2023. Issertell was named Eastern Dakota Conference Coach of the Year in 2016 and the North Dakota High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2020.
  14. What a beat down. Congrats to your program and fans. Good luck the rest of the way.
  15. Yessir he is.
  16. Sounds like Legacy is getting a combo package of Ryan Faragher and Wade Davison, both of whom were with Mario.
  17. Not sure it would work here like it does in MN. The boys across the river comeback to play for a dream shot at the State Hockey Tournament. One school, another year with the same kids you've laced them up for 10-12 years (or whatever), all hair team, section tournaments with barns filled to the brim....so much of that. ND is so much different. And then you get to the state tournament and it's a snooze fest. Although I will say the WDA tournaments the past 2 seasons have had great atmospheres...First in Bismarck and last year in Minot.
  18. I believe the main reason was the admins were difficult to work with as far as scheduling etc. But this could've been another reason. And...uh...perhaps the pipeline a little bit.
  19. Yeah I think we all know it will never happen.
  20. So AA hockey would be Minot, Bismarck x 3, WF x 2, GF x 2 and Fargo x 3, Mandan x 1 essentially based on attendance. I don't think that's keeping anyone in the state who wants to leave unfortunately.
  21. Probably nothing I guess. MN won't wanna play anyone west of Fargo or GF anyway. Not sure how AA/A would work in ND with so few teams.
  22. Yup. I believe there are 4 ND girls headed to Warroad this year...lol.
  23. Well we are now up to 5 Bismarck girls who have left town since the Blizzard split. By my recollection there was only 2 in the entire history of the Blizzard who had left for other opportunities (Kennedy Blair and Madison Brown). Was hoping Britta Curl would've set the tone - even after Idalksi told her she needed to get the hell out of ND. I'm not gonna list names like above but from the top of my head there are 11 girls who have left ND just this season. And I have no clue if there's any GF girls who cross the river to play either (there were a couple last year who went to Sacred Heart, which is co-op with Crookston). This is getting out of control for boys and girls.
  24. Well looks like his resignation hit the local news today. Job posting went live on Friday already. Oddly enough Bismarck Hockey Boosters hasn't announced anything yet. Just hope the local psychos don't chew him up and spit him out too fast. Odd timing to hire a coach, and Bismarck doesn't exactly attract a lot of candidates either. I believe when Peluso resigned they opened the interviews up for 2 cycles because nobody applied. When the local girls teams were forced to split only one coach applied for each side.I believe Legacy had only 2 candidates. Players are hoping the remaining staff can stay in tact, Faragher just started teaching last year at Legacy so that would be a fairly seamless transition and the rest of the staff has a good hockey background. We were fortunate to have him for 2 years and hope he can help change the culture of Bismarck Hockey.
  25. That is the hope.
