  1. So sloppy in every aspect. Defensive zone coverage is atrocious. Have to find a way to generate more chances offensively. Quit going East because the officials are always horrendous. Suspect penalty/no calls, suspect icing calls, suspect offside calls.
  2. 3-3 was the minimum expectation going into the bye and they just barely got to it. 4-2 was probably needed to have a decent playoff shot. Cowboys, @ Ravens, @ Chargers, Packers, @ 49ers, @ Lions, Steelers, @ Bears, Rams, @ Packers, and Bears is how the schedule finishes. I'm still taking the under on getting to 7 wins.
  3. Vikings somehow pull one out again after giving up control late. Nothing has changed in my mind. Zimmer still needs to go just may have to have some patience with it, I'm confident he won't be coaching come game 1 next season but the firing may not come until after week 18.
  4. I think Bemidji is gonna have a pretty good year so while not happy I'm alright with the results of the weekend. Really bad start tonight and I didn't think UND played particularly well all weekend. Just way too sloppy, lots of missed passes, not a ton of playmaking, and giveaways. We were spoiled with a veteran team last year and a ton of skill that had some experience together so there really wasn't a huge adjustment period. That isn't the case this season. I think a big part of it is with so many new guys they are still trying to gel and learn how to play with/off of each other. This team has a long way to go and grow but I'm hopeful they will show some steady improvement and hopefully put themselves in position to be a factor in March.
  5. Whew held on for the win and definitely a lot to work on. Thought Caulfield had a pretty solid game, seemed to win a lot of board battles. Driscoll was real solid, couple of fluky bounces led to 2 BSU goals. Ton of careless giveaways, didn't connect on many passes at all tonight just real sloppy, gap control was awful for much of the night d-men giving way too much room, too many stick checks gotta be a little more physical on the boards. All in all though got the win and now have to find a way to finish the sweep tomorrow night.
  6. Listened to the latest YHH podcast and they mentioned he has visited UND, Minnesota, and Duluth. Also touched a little on a couple of former Gopher commits back on the market in Joe Miller and Jake Braccini. I'd definitely have some interest in Miller. https://www.youthhockeyhub.com/news_article/show/1188340
  7. Was so hoping the Lions could hang on after that Viking collapse but Detroit is Detroit I guess. Would have loved to see today be the day the Wilfs blow it up but with the upcoming schedule I have faith it is just a matter of time before the end of Zimmer.
  8. Pretty solid performance last night, definitely a little sloppy in the 3rd though. Jamernik was a guy that stood out to me showing a lot more skill/playmaking then we saw from him last year.
  9. Knew I should've waited for a line chart. So much for my Hain pick.
  10. As much as I'd love to see a repeat performance I don't see it happening. That Minnesota team is gonna be really really good. If I had to pick a favorite for the national championship right now they would be my pick. Ton of scoring depth, very skilled D group with some experience, and a solid goalie that is proven.
  11. Not sure who it was but you could see someone on crutches with a boot on in the hallway as they interviewed Berry after the game tonight.
  12. Thought Calder played some center? The late loss of Weatherby definitely leaves some questions down the middle for me. Be real interested to see who gets work on the faceoff dot Saturday.
  13. Any guesses on line combos for Saturday? I'll throw mine out. Schmaltz-Ford-Gaber Budy-Calder-Caulfield Hain-Senden-Portz Kunz-Jamernik-Ness Montgomery-Costantini-Albrecht Sanderson-Frisch Kleven-Jandric Moore-Johnson Bast-Ferner Driscoll Hellsten Feeney Johnson
  14. Really solid game from the Vikings today although I'm not sure how good of team Seattle is. Little surprised the defense limited Wilson as much as they did. Still think the ceiling for this team is about 9 wins though and maybe this year that can win the North with how Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit, and the Vikings have looked.
  15. I'd expect a very good performance from a focused team Saturday at Purdue. If we don't see that we have problems. They will hear all week how bad they are and rightfully so after the embarrassment of yesterday and Fleck is the type of coach that will play it up and use it as motivation for the team perfectly I think. I don't think Morgan looks like the same QB or even close to it right now. I don't think he looks confident in himself at all. I'd be excited to see a change there but I don't believe it will actually happen. Maybe we see more Cole Kramer in that package this week though. On the OL I wonder at times if they are doing too much shifting and would just be better off playing 5 OL together regularly and mixing in the 6/7 OL formations in different situations. Right now they rotate through 6 all the time and you are seeing multiple guys playing the right and left side at different times and Andries moving from G to T as well.
  16. Absolutely atrocious and unacceptable loss a week after dominating Colorado and having 10,000+ fans in Boulder. Hopefully it opens his eyes up to some changes he needs to make in the program. Seems like whenever the Gophers have played a non-major non-conference opponent they have played as vanilla offense as possible and it finally resulted in a loss after a few other close calls. Tanner Morgan also has really struggled the past two seasons after a great 2019, it is time to make a move to Zack Annexstad, Cole Kramer, or Jacob Clark at QB. The other big issue is just how conservative he gets offensively and his "tressel ball" philosophy, they need to go uptempo at times and quit worrying about draining the play clock to under 5 every play doesn't always need to be check with me offense. The last issue is two coordinators. Rob Wenger has done nothing positive in his time as special teams coordinator, only explanation he still has a job is he has to have some kind of dirt on PJ. The other is Mike Sanford as the OC, not sure he is the right man for the job. Morgan's play at QB has taken a big step back since he took over and the route combos always seem kinda weird to me and the offense has become very predictable.
  17. Honestly I'm just more familiar with Minnesota kids because I see a bunch of Minnesota high school hockey being from here and still living in MN. I really don't care where kids come from I just feel like Minnesota produces a ton of talent and it should be a priority pipeline state for us.
  18. I'd put Clark right up there with any of them, he is really really good. We have to start recruiting better in Minnesota.
  19. We have really really struggled landing high end Minnesota kids lately losing a bunch to Minnesota, a couple to Duluth, and I think even one or two to St. Cloud. Minnesota should be a state we are prioritizing and getting a good amount of talent from. Yeah you aren't gonna beat Minnesota head to head a whole lot but I expect us to maybe 1 out of 10 and then getting our pick of those guys that the Gophers aren't.
  20. 0-2. 41 seconds on the clock and letting the clock run down for the field goal was stupid of Zim, you would think he'd learn by now. Joseph makes two 50 yarders but misses a extra point and the 37 yarder for the win. Cardinals with an extremely stupid gameplan of playing a lot of 5/6 man boxes in the first half allowing Dalvin to run wild, adjusted like every other team does to loading up the box with 7/8 and sending run blitzes in the 2nd half.
  21. Very undisciplined effort today. Definitely outcoached and ton of poor execution as well. When the Vikes started bad last year I was hoping they'd just keep it up and it would be the end of Rick and Zim and they could get Fields to take over at QB. That didn't happen but after the terrible draft, preseason, and this start I'm even more done with those two and thinking this year will end them. Good chance to start 0-4 after a road game with Arizona next week and then Seattle and Cleveland coming to U.S. Bank. Pretty tough schedule overall this year as well facing the AFC North and NFC West and then getting the Cowboys, Chargers, and Panthers as your other games. Right now I'm thinking about 7-10 as best case and I'd take the under.
  22. Good to see both cut but don't love that they kept Dozier on the practice squad. Losing Irv Smith for the year(likely) is a huge hit. Happy to see they are gonna bring in a backup QB but would've preferred someone other than Mannion.
